Kasoon, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start on the operational side – do you spend more of your time/focus/energy on growing revenue or cutting costs?
This is a great question because it aligns well with our mission here at Penn AI of helping small to medium size businesses grow faster and smarter. Penn AI is your AI-powered copilot for productivity and growth. We do this by replacing manual work with AI-driven efficiency so that every action either saves time, drives revenue, or both.
At Penn AI, we are unapologetically focused on growing revenue, but we do it through intelligent cost saving measures, that’s what AI makes possible. AI is the cost saving measure. I am a firm believer that you don’t have a business if you are not generating leads or revenue. AI gives us the unique opportunity to scale without increasing cost. For example, our Penn AI Agents let businesses serve 10X more customers with the same staff. We are adamant about replacing repetitive expenses with smarter solutions. Leveraging AI allows us to redirect energy where it belongs into growth, innovation, and customer success.

Kasoon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
1. How did you get into your industry?
Before founding Penn AI, I worked as a Business Systems Analyst and Product Owner at a major multinational insurance firm for over 15 year. My role involved working closely with subject matter experts (SME’s) across the U.S. and internationally gathering complex business requirements and collaborating with developers to build enterprise systems. I was constantly in meetings, capturing detailed notes and insights, and I realized how inefficient and error-prone manual note-taking really was. I needed a faster, smarter, and more reliable way to ensure nothing was missed so I began exploring AI to solve my own challenges. In 2021, I launched the first version of the Penn AI Note-Taking App not as a business idea at first, but as a solution to my own problem. I knew I was onto something after seeing the daily downloads, without doing any marketing and when someone in Italy reached out asking if it was available in Italian.
That moment sparked a bigger vision. I began pursuing AI not just as a tool, but as a business enabler. I saw too many talented people wasting time on repetitive tasks that machines could do better; I was one of them. I realized that AI wasn’t just about automation it was about liberation. It was the key to helping people and businesses make more money, scale faster, and reclaim their time. That belief became the foundation for Penn AI. Today, we’ve expanded from note-taking into full-scale AI Agents, and we’re just getting started.
2. What type of products/services does Penn AI provide?

5. What are you most proud of?

And beyond the product, I’m proud of the mission. We’re democratizing AI by offering a free way to get started, we educate, and a provide a supportive community. We’re not just watching the future happen. we’re helping people actively create it on their own terms. That’s what drives me every day.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I funded Penn AI the way many bold moves begin by betting on myself! I dipped into my 401K, despite being told it wasn’t the “financially smart” thing to do. But I’ve always believed that the biggest risk is not betting on your own potential or vision. So unpopular but for me, it was a no-brainer.
To stretch every dollar, I negotiated with my development company that I would handle the business analysis and a large part of the user testing myself. That decision saved me a significant amount and also kept me deeply connected to every part of the product. At the same time, I kept working a full-time job and built the business on nights and weekends.
It certainly wasn’t easy as a mom and wife; it was a challenge and it took discipline. Every dollar was personal, I didn’t just invest money, I invested time, sweat, and belief. That’s what makes every win even more meaningful and so deeply rewarding.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I’ve had to unlearn a few things actually. One big lesson I had to unlearn was my mindset around social media. I am very private; I do believe that you should not share too much and I saw social media as chasing likes which was not my personality. That whole mindset I had to quickly unlearn, the belief that social media wasn’t worth my time just because I wasn’t chasing likes.
I realized that social media isn’t about vanity it’s about visibility, credibility, and education. It’s about making people aware of what you do, why it matters, and how you can help them. That shift in perspective made a huge difference. I also had to get comfortable with the fact that building a personal brand requires stepping into the spotlight even when it doesn’t come naturally because it really doesn’t. I am more comfortable, in fact I am best known for, leading from behind. However, the business I’m building is bigger than me, and if I want people to trust it, they have to see the person behind it. That is the only way to become a “key person of influence” in my field.
I appreciate Google’s 7-11-4 rule which is a marketing framework that suggests potential customers typically need 7 hours of interaction, across 11 different touchpoints, on 4 separate platforms or locations, before they feel ready to buy. So my personal goal this year is to consistently put myself out there..!!
