We recently connected with Kasia Harria and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kasia, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with a hypothetical question – if it were up to you, what would you change about the school or education system to better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career?
This is our future and a very important topic for all students and parents. I believe the school systems could spend more effort on educating the youth in money management, debt and investments. Business driven courses should be mandatory in all high school curriculums. We need to help the future generations feel comfortable with making smart choices with their earnings and maybe create less overall poverty within our systems.
Kasia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello I am Kasia, Founder of KM Beauty Designs. I am a mother of two girls Avayah 15 and Syriah 14. My love and passion for the beauty industry are what have driven my success. I knew from a young age that I belonged in the beauty industry.
I joined Beauty College shortly after High School in 2002 in New Mexico, transferred to Ft Worth Texas in 2003 completed Beauty College with a Cosmetology License. I chose to stay at home with my two girls and ran a business for my spouse in a completely different industry but gave me the business experience that I didn’t realize would benefit me as much as it did. After 11 years I decided it was time to get back to my passion.
In 2016 looking into the industry I decided to get certified to specialize in Eyelash Extensions. This was the start of KM Beauty Designs. This service made sense from a business perspective as well as a client’s perspective. A service that creates simplicity, saves time and creates confidence. While allowing myself to use my creativity, build relationships and inspire others in ways I never imagined.
I think one of the biggest challenges for myself was overcoming my lack of confidence in my work and business. Like any skill, experience and time put in is what creates success. My work is a reflection of myself I take pride in every service and hold myself accountable for all results. I make sure every client is completely satisfied and walk away from their service feeling better than when they walked in. I am proud to say that my work ethic and love for the industry have definitely paid off. The most rewarding part of my success is by far the relationships built with my beautiful clients/friends but also the inspiration I can be to my two beautiful girls.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe one of the most overlooked but most important attributes of growing and building in the beauty industry is knowing you are selling yourself first. Your personal style, hygiene, outgoing personality, self-confidence, and positive attitude are all part of what built my reputation and business.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
There are so many state grants, government assistance, and resources for Woman Owned Businesses and New Businesses I wish I would’ve known more of when starting up.
