We recently connected with KaShunti Farmer and have shared our conversation below.
KaShunti, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the best advice you ever gave to a client? How did they benefit / what was the result?
Working as a Virtual Assistant means that I am the right-hand woman to my clients’ businesses and even their personal lives, sometimes. I handle their back-end administration, gain access to their personal and professional financial records, keep up with their confidential information, hold their secrets, and share in their successes and failures.
The best advice that I’ve ever given a client is for them to choose their team members, including their virtual assistant, wisely! It’s a process that shouldn’t be taken lightly, and the candidates must be vetted properly. The wrong team members can sink a business beyond repair. Once I helped a client develop a work flow and process for vetting and onboarding new team members, and her business has skyrocketed. Her team is successful, and she’s gained three new contracts scheduled to begin within the next few months.
Her trust in me to work alongside her in her business is something that I don’t take lightly or for granted. It’s invaluable to both her business and mine.
KaShunti, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For the past 3, going on 4 years, I have owned and operated a modern, luxe Virtual Assistant firm that specializes in providing general administrative services. I began in this industry under the mentorship of a friend who also owns a Virtual Assistant business. In the Summer of 2019, I was looking for additional ways to make money and began the search for ways to utilize my talents. I’d held several previous administrative positions in the corporate sector, but didn’t realize how those transferrable skills could be used as a free-lancer.
I handle the daily administrative and back-end tasks for my clients that allows them to have at least 50% of their time back. The tedious, time consuming tasks that takes away from my clients being able to focus on the aspects of their business that they love the most, I take those off of their plate. I alleviate their stress, and assist them with organizing their businesses for optimal performance.
What makes the most proud is the friendships that I’ve formed with my clients. Once they join, we become a family within a sense. I handle their business the way I handle my own – with the utmost care and attention.
I want potential clients to know that they’re taken care of in all aspects of their business when I’m added to their team.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me, has been word of mouth.
My clients truly are the best when it comes to speaking about the services that I offer them. I diligently seek to give them the best experience possible, and don’t take their support and references lightly.
In addition to word of mouth referrals, increasing my social media presence has proven to be a good source for clients. I am able to showcase my talents and expertise via social media to entice potential clients to want to learn more about how I can assist their businesses.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I like to give my clients as much access to me that makes them comfortable. I can understand that having a virtual assistant can cause hesitancy and anxiety for business owners who’ve never had one before. To foster trust within the partnership, I give them multiple ways to contact me for their business needs including my business email address, business phone number, and I create a Slack channel for us to communicate with on their various projects.
