We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kashia Freemon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kashia below.
Kashia, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
December 2020, I quit my 9-5 at Walmart due to maternity leave, but I knew for sure I wasn’t going back. I procrastinated so much about starting my lash business. I would have all these negative thoughts when it came to if I would have clients or would it be consistent or will I even be good at it. February 2021, I finally started putting myself out there. Starting with Facebook, I used their ads and promoted $25 sets. February 9th, I got my first 2 clients! I was extremely nervous.. it took be 3/4 each. I wanted to give up during the service but I was so determined to finish to see the outcome. The mother and daughter LOVED them and tipped me I was so shocked but I felt accomplished.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Kashia, owner of Kashia F Lash Artistry. I am a 2x certified lash artist who specializes in volume and hybrid mink lash extensions. I’m all about enhancing women’s looks and confidence. i’ve been wearing lash extensions myself since 2018. Ever since then, i’ve been obsessed and i’ve always been intrigued by the lash extensions process. I took my certification class by March 2020 and started lashing February 2021. What sets me apart from other lash artists, is my attentiveness and work quality and ethic. I love all my clients and the amazing bond i’ve built with every single one and i’m proud of how much i’m promoting myself and improving my skills. I want all my potential/new clients to know that once you start getting lash extensions you’ll never look back! I provide excellent customer service, work and, always straightforward.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A very important lesson I had to learn was to be attentive to clients/potential clients concerns. Never go back and forth. Always listen and put yourself in their shoes as a client and not a business owner. 2 years in this industry and i’ve gotten maybe a handful of people message me about concerns or dilemmas they’ve had with other lash techs. One being, her eyes where blood shot red and burning and she messaged the lash tech about it and didn’t help her not one bit and she came to me and was so relieved that I could help her. Be very open to anything because we’re not perfect and some of us have a lot to work on.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Posting all day, everyday. Doesn’t matter if the content isn’t perfect. Post it. I usually upload to my Instagram about 3-6 times a day. Maybe 3 reels and 3 instagram posts but, they have to be very informative and eye-catching. After I do that, I run ads off my Instagram/Facebook and let them run for a few days. You have to stay CONSISTENT.. that is the key. Always follow trends and algorithm. Also, providing great service and having a positive attitude and energy.
