We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kashi Jayy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kashi below.
Kashi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry? Any stories or anecdotes that illustrate why this matters?
That all Hip Hop artist are thugs and gangbanger when a lot are just really a product of their environment. I believe everyone has a story and the ones that can actually tell their story get mixed up with the ones that’s doing it for attention.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For those that don’t know what I do I make music. I make what I feel is good quality music; the type that creates a mood. Some people can listen to any of my music and it can help them through whatever they’re going thru at the moment because I was most likely going through the same thing when I wrote the song. I’m most proud of my progress the most. Listening to old songs myself I see the growth in what I used to do to now and it’s make it so much more worth it. My brand is all about growth and leveling up. I want everyone who listens to me to be inspired and motivated wherever they are. I also try and spread positive love (not just sex) but real mutual feelings in my music.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A time where I had to pivot is when I was going through an identity phase as an artist. Trying to rebrand myself I was coming up with ideas for a new name not knowing that this will have to bring a new sound to fit the name as well. Once I came across the right name I simply stopped everything I was working on before the name change and immediately started on a sound for my new persona.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Image is everything when it comes to social media and I basically put my personality on my page. Your feed should tell a story; the come up. Overthinking ruins a lot of your post too. My advice would be just post it. Post consistently, post often, forget the results and keep it pushing.
