Hi Kashana , thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
My brand Kandyy kiss cosmetics focuses on providing natural based skincare products for everyday people . I formulate , test and research each product for months before each release to make sure they are up to exceptional standard ! Each batch is made is small quantities to ensure freshness , quality and greatness ! I don’t use any harsh chemicals and my labels have ingredients you can understand !
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My journey started at home ! I am a single mother of 3 and everyone in my household suffers from seasonal eczema including myself ! I needed to come up with a remedy that wouldn’t strip our skin of its natural oils . I’ve noticed over the years using big brands to try and remedy this never really worked. So I buckled up, joined YouTube Academy (if you know you know !) and did my months long research to find a remedy ! Through the months of researching , testing trial and error I finally found a natural solution with my handcrafted body butters ! Once I tested my formula , got opinions back , I was ecstatic ! Not only was my formula healing to the skin , it left you feeling smooth all day long ! I’ve never felt results like this from bigger brands, this was new an exciting ! Once I let my family test out my formulations we all came to the agreement that I need to sell this! The world needs to have this product ! Once I mastered my top selling body butters recipes , I dived into more natural skincare ! I felt there was nothing I couldn’t learn , research and try !

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As you all know it’s hard to start out a small business with no real background or idea of what I’m doing . I had to not only learn and teach myself so many new things . I also had to juggle starting a business and having a new born ! My youngest son at the time was only a few months old when I first started ! So being a single full time mommy and full time new business owner was a circus act ! There were nights I’d stay up late with my sons and have YouTube videos playing in the background so I could research new recipes/formulas while breastfeeding! I also had to overcome people who would doubt me saying “You need a real job! Put your son in daycare! Whats your backup plan?” So many people doubted I could juggle having small children and be a successful business woman , but here I am 2 years later and my business is thriving ! I’m not saying it’ll was easy , there was very long nights , long days , moments I did want to just quit and get a corporate job . But I focused on my goal , I want to have generational wealth for my family !
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Oh this is a funny one, don’t judge me haha. So you all remember when COVID started a few years ago and majority of the popular was unemployed ? I was one of the lucky few who actually got approved for unemployment at the time ! If you all remember those checks were pretty decent ! I use majority of my money for essentials, my family and I saved the rest . So years later when this idea came about die my business after I gave birth to my youngest son , I already had the start up money ! I was able to live comfortably while financing my business ! It was a win win !
