We recently connected with Kasha WildBird and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kasha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Kasha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Certainly, I was born in Poland and lived in the city and in the country side until I was seven. My family and I immigrated to Canada and I lived there until I graduated art school. From there I moved to the United States and I became a citizen in 2019. A few years ago I found out through a DNA test that I also have Irish, English and Scandinavian genealogy. This was exciting for me because I have this fascination with Celtic, Pictish and Norse artwork . I’m constantly learning as much as I can about their mythology.
I am very proud of the percision line work in my Celtic-Norse tattooing. The shamanic animal guides, intricate knot work and mesmerizing Pictish pattern mazes are very complex and I love the challenge it brings each time. Another area of interest I love is Japanese artwork and mythology. I have a fascination for their beautiful flow and design. Every aspect has a meaning and the artwork is so vibrant. Doing bodysuits in both Celtic and Japanese design makes me so happy. The way it comes to life and tells a story. It’s hard to resist it’s beauty and strength. I do strong tattoos for strong people.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’m a woman in a still male dominated industry. My resilience is my determination to move forward. I cut my teeth and sharpened by claws, because I had to. I don’t take shit from anyone. I learned success from the examples all around me. How to run a business and how not to.
I don’t get intimidated or starstruck by any artists or Instagram influencers. I just want to know you’re a pleasant, easy going person to interact with. Do you have solid work ethics? Do you understand the importance of mutual respect and good communication skills? Do you bring something to the table? These are all vital assets in tattoo shops. We are fortunate to be in the arts and get paid for what we love to do! It’s best to stay grateful and humble.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I still get to be my own boss. That’s the first rewarding thing about tattooing. The second is that I get to do what I’ve been passionate about my whole life, ART and expressing myself! The third rewarding thing about tattooing is that I get to have access to such a variety of people from all walks of life!
I love socializing with everyone and trying to just understand where someone is coming from. These connections of understanding come out in my art and the intention is set with each project. It helps strengthen the chi/mana each person is looking for. Everyone needs love and a strong tattoo to help strengthen ones energy makes me happy.
