We recently connected with Kash Weinber and have shared our conversation below.
Kash, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I’ve been raising funds and awareness since I was 8 years old, now I’m 13. I’ve donated over $20,000 to animals in need and also children/women in need. I’ve done a lot of meaningful projects but I would say the one that means the most would be rehabilitating my dog Lola after she was abandoned in the middle of winter. She was found by Quinte West Lost Paws in a dilapidated barn and she was freezing and starving to death with all the physical and emotional signs of abuse.
She was brought into Hastings and Prince Edward Humane Society and I went every day to see her. I raised the funds to cover her food and vet care, I bought her first bed and laid with her for hours until she was comfortable enough to even sit on the bed. She was scared of everyone and everything. I taught her low stress tricks to build her confidence and slowly she started to trust me. I would even nap in her kennel with her.
After a few months she was given the okay to be released and we brought her home! We have chihuahuas who helped teach her to be brave. She is the most gentle soul and such a good girl. She even helps take care of the kittens we foster. She was 40 pounds when she was found and she’s almost 100 pounds now, big and healthy and so strong!!
To be able to change her life for the better means the world to me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m 13 years old and have been raising funds and awareness for animals in need since I was 8 years old. I’ve donated over $20,000 to animals (and kids) in need.
I’ve always volunteered with my parents at the humane society walking dogs but I wanted to do more so I started woodworking to donate the proceeds to the animals. I started going in craft shows big and small. It started to take off so then I decided to donate 50% to animals and invest the other 50% into my future goal of starting my own rescue.
At Christmas time I raise money for children and women in need at my local womens shelter and then I partner with toys r us to get as many toys as possible for the kids. They open the store just for me and give me the lowest sale price of the toys plus they add a bunch in themselves and I always have thousands of dollars worth of toys to donate to the kids for Christmas!
This past summer I’ve started dog walking/pet sitting and I’ve been very busy with that. I enjoy it so much!
I was even hired by HGTV to teach a woodworking class at their National Home Show in Toronto. I donated half of my earnings from that to a rescue in Toronto.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My future goal is to start my own rescue. In order to fund my rescue I will have a dog day care as I have already built a strong client base with my business, pet sitting and dog walking.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of what I do is helping animals. Whether it’s from the money I’ve donated to help an animal, or just making dogs days better when I come to walk them.
