We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kasey Patin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kasey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
Friends and family are at the heart of my success for both of my business ventures. Without even asking, I have been encouraged and supported to start my cookie business and the podcast that I’m a part of. Having their support is essential. It feels amazing to have my supporters ask about new flavors for my cookies and even what is an upcoming subject on the next podcast episode.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello my name is Kasey and I am a self proclaimed cookie Queen and podcast host.
I started baking at a young age, but during covid I really got into making shortbread cookies. I loved the idea that you could actually enjoy the flavor of a cookie and not be completely overwhelmed by sugary sweetness. I set out to explore flavor combinations that were unique. I made it my goal to balance flavor with sweetness for that perfect balance. My repeat customers tell me how I hit that nail on the head. I am a very artistic person, so decorating cookies definitely came naturally to me. I’m still learning tricks, but my decorating skills have definitely sharpened since I first started.
My other passion is my podcast that I share with my husband and my best friend. It’s called Stirrin’ The Pot Podcast. The three of us discuss all things related to cooking. We tend to specialize in the controversial aspects of cooking…especially when it comes to Cajun/Creole cooking. You will definitely end up laughing and learning a thing or two from our episodes.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media is such a unique animal. In these modern times, it’s impossible to not be engulfed by it. Without social media, I’m not sure I would be successful at my cookie business or my podcast due to the fact that word of mouth travels at light speed. Friends, family, colleagues, and friends of friends have all helped to contribute to my successes. I’m still working on that social media presence, but nothing worth doing is just handed to you.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I would say being consistent. By not only delivering consistently high quality products, but by communicating consistently. Always being clear on what you offer and how you plan to deliver on those promises. Basically, I treat my customers the way that I would expect to be treated….with the upmost respect.
