Hi Karz, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk about innovation. What’s the most innovative thing you’ve done in your career?
The most innovative thing I’ve done with my brand is shoot a detailed-two-part skit for the release of my brand’s tracksuits. The skit was extremely creative and brought a ton of attention to my art!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Karz Miller and I’m from Nashville , Tennessee. I love to read , exercise, and relax whenever I am off work.
My brand “PRoTocoL” originally came from me accidentally starting a trend amongst my peers in 2017 where I would take a photo of whatever pair of shoes I was wearing for the day using only the word “Protocol” in the caption. A lot of people that follow me on social media picked up on this habit and eventually started doing the same thing while tagging my social media accounts as well. By the end of 2019 people were addressing me as “Mr. Protocol”.
My brand “PRoTocoL” represents you setting a goal for yourself and understanding the exact requirements in order to reach that goal. Whenever I hear the word “Protocol” the first thing that comes to my mind is a procedure of some sort. With that being said whenever you set a goal for yourself , there is a certain protocol you have to stick to in order for it to be obtained. This is where my phrase “Stick to the protocol” comes in to play.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe there are a couple of things that helped me build my brand’s reputation within the market. The first thing being the fact that I basically started a brand without even having a product. I have been using the word “Protocol” alone in a ton of my social media captions since 2017 which was before I even thought about making it an actual business. As stated before it led to me being called “Mr. Protocol” by almost all of my family and friends. My brand “PRoTocoL” didn’t officially launch until July of 2020.
The second thing that help me build my brand’s reputation is the comfortable sweatshirts and hoodies I released in 2021! The quality of them are unmatched and almost everybody that owns one say it is their favorite sweatshirt/hoodie in their closet.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
So far the most effective strategies in helping me grow my clientele for PRoTocoL have been the utilization of Pop up shops and my friends and family.
I love entering pop up shops because it gives me the opportunity to talk to someone face to face about my brand, what it stands for , how is started it, and what I currently have available! This brand has a very strong message behind it and I enjoy breaking it down to someone before or after they observe all of my products view.
My friends and family are the reason why my brand is where it is today! The support that I receive from a lot of people is truly amazing. I have friends that wear my brand and shout it out on social media almost everyday. This helps me get my brand out to other people that are in different areas than me.
