Karteriya, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think it takes commitment, patience, consistency and a lot of hard work to be successful.
Karteriya, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an almost 4 year Last artist. I offer four different lash sets; classic, hybrid, volume, and mega volume. I customize lash strips for my clients that prefer strip lashes. I also after lash trainings for my clients that would like to become a lash artist.
I think starting off as a self taught lash artist set me apart from others. I woke up one day and taught myself a skill many people can not do even if somebody teach them. I built up a great clientele from scratch all on my own. I never hired a social media manger or an assistant. I handle everything with my business on my own since I have started, and I have touched MANY eyes and achieved MANY things off my own craft.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
My lash business was most definitely my side hustle that turned until my full time business. I worked jobs up until almost two years to fund my business. Which made my business a side hustle. I had to take appointments for my business whenever I did not have to work.
When I first started I didn’t have enough clients to just depend on my business. I worked my jobs until I builded my clientele up and until I had all my supplies. My work checks I received is how I continued to purchase things for my business. This takes a big part into why my business is where it is today. I feel like if I didn’t work those jobs, I would have not had any supplies to even complete a lash set for the small amount of clients I did have. From 2019 to now almost 2023 I stayed consistent and on top of my business, never took any breaks. I feel like that is how I turned my side hustle into what it is today.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The main thing right now that is working for my business is tiktok, instagram and word of mouth.
