We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Karter Ware a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Karter thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Hey, foodies! It’s Chef Karter here, your 7-year-old kid foodie, an aspiring chef, entrepreneur, and influencer. I’m super excited to share with you my love of cooking and food, and why I think it’s important to learn the craft of cooking and share it with the world.
Cooking is not just a hobby for me, it’s a way of life. I love to create old-school meals and new remixed meals, using fresh ingredients, spices, and herbs. I love to explore different cuisines and cultures through food and experiment with new flavors and techniques. Cooking is fun, creative, and healthy, and it makes me happy.
But cooking is not only about me, it’s also about you. Cooking is a wonderful skill that can bring joy, creativity, and health to others. Sharing your love of food with the world is a great way to inspire others, educate them about different cuisines and cultures, and make a positive difference in their lives. Food is a love language that brings so many people together.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello! I am Karter but known on social media as Chef Karter. I’m a 7-year-old foodie, aspiring chef, entrepreneur, and influencer. Born with a passion for cooking, my parents understood the importance of nurturing my gift early. I’ve always loved cooking for as long as I can remember. I remember pretending to cook with anything I could find. You see grass and I see greens. You see sticks, I see chicken. You see mud and I see pies, bread, cakes, etc. LOL. I was fascinated by the science of food. My parents introduced me to the kitchen at 2 years old and the exploration began. I started learning from my mom and grandparents and watching cooking shows. I discovered that cooking is not only fun, but also creative, healthy, and rewarding.
I decided to share my love of cooking and food with the world through my social media channels, where I share my recipes, photos, videos, tips, and stories. I also started my own spice line, which features my custom-blended all-natural spices (Sweet Cajun and The Kitchen Sink) made with quality ingredients and amazing tastebud-popping flavors that can enhance any dish.
My goal is to inspire other kids and adults to cook and eat well, and to pursue their dreams. I want to open my own restaurants and food truck someday, where I can serve delicious food that makes people happy. I would love to host workshops or classes for kids to share my knowledge and love for cooking. Cooking is a life skill that everyone needs to know. I also want to give back to those in need through my adventures.
I’m proud of what I’ve achieved so far, and I’m grateful for the support of my family and village. I love to learn and focus on making A’s in the classroom and grade-A meals in the kitchen. I want to remind everyone to go after whatever you want in life. You are never too young or old. In the words of Nike, “Quit making excuses, putting it off, complaining about it, dreaming about it, whining about it, crying about it, believing you can’t, worrying if you can, waiting until you are older, skinnier, richer, braver, or all-around better. Suck it up, hold on tight, say a prayer, make a plan & just do it.”
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a creative influencer is that I get to nurture my gift and share it with the world. I love cooking and creating new dishes, and I enjoy learning from other chefs and foodies. I get to build relationships and make connections with people who support my passion. I have had opportunities to collaborate with other influencers, participate in events and competitions, and promote my own brand. I am grateful for the chance to inspire others to follow their dreams. Being a kid chef and influencer is not only fun but also fulfilling.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Honestly, I think people will never understand what creatives, especially kid creators, deal with daily. We work hard to develop and create content and build a relationship with our audience. Shoutout to the most amazing village ever for always encouraging me on the journey. There is no me without you! It takes a lot to nurture your craft and build a village. Many times, on social media, we are faced with other people’s negativity and rudeness, which can be frustrating and hurtful. We don’t post to bring negativity to our lives but to spread joy to others. If you don’t have anything nice to say, it’s best to not say anything at all. That’s what I’ve always been taught. It’s okay if we don’t do things the same way. There are literally thousands of ways to make one recipe. I don’t feed into the negativity but rather focus on the positive. “I refuse to entertain negativity. Life is too big, and time is too short to get caught up in empty drama. -unknown” Don’t let anyone stop your pursuit.
