We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Karryl Durr a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Karryl thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I grew up in North Baton Rouge, LA. I have always had the enthusiasm and the mind set to help people in my community, the City of Baton Rouge, and surrounding areas to become the best version of themselves. I produced the idea of becoming a Certified Etiquette Consultant, so I knew I had to get the required certification and credentials to help develop individuals as they grow and flourish in everyday life situations and most importantly having respectable social skills. I knew this was worthwhile because of the results from developing individuals, sharing the importance of proper etiquette, and receiving positive feedback from individuals, parents, families, churches, colleges, universities, and the community was amazing. I felt this would work due to the need in our community, city as well as our country.
Etiquette is so much more than appropriate dining behavior. I took a leap in my community and city to address proper etiquette as well as raising the awareness of its importance and I am so incredibly grateful for the support and love shown on this great journey. I felt this business would work because so many people have forgotten or just need help with using the appropriate manners, professionalism, and most importantly social skills.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Advice for building your social media audience:
Your business presence on social media at least twice a week on all platforms (Facebook, Tick Toc, Instagram, or LinkedIn) you are sharing information about the service you are providing. Sharing upcoming events, posting your Logo with information to follow-up such as what you offer. People also want to see you and not just visuals, this will help as well.
You can go live on your social media platforms and talk about the services and anything you want to share that will catch the attention of your social media audience. Post your story as well. You should also post in the mornings and in the evenings, this way the information is out there twice that day.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Helping people in the community. Staying active on social media with my audience at least twice a week. Participating in community events. Networking events. Attending trainings and business conferences as well as having the support from my mentors and professional leaders.
