We were lucky to catch up with Karmello Drip recently and have shared our conversation below.
Karmello , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
Most def especially starting up, Working on dreams when I was younger had me looking like chicken little in the streets. Being new to the game and having different projects to work on nobody else really understood my ideas. I wasn’t going to come out only making one style of music because in the long run I wanted to expand as a brand. How I looked at myself and how others viewed me was a big difference. I knew I still had to work on my Craft and think outside the box. But was thinking just get it out there especially when I’m getting into situations that didn’t reflect on my character. It comes with a unwritten contract that you owe it to yourself to get the job done. Even if everyone else doesn’t see your vision. I wanted to have a foundation for me to work on in my late 20’s. Starting out 18 I was just thinking ahead of time , most people cared for the moment. Staying focused through the struggle really brought out the flame in me, the more I was taking lost an losing people around me just made me not give a f*ck what people think. It taught me that I’m badass staying true to the mission and do It like a g. A lot of people from the hood want to be a rapper or artist but you going to have to boss up to handle everything that comes with the business. An from my perspective if you already at the bottom the only way to go is up, nothing to lose everything to gain. Now I have a birds eye view of what I need to do an thew view looks nice.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ma retired superhero haha i was up to no good kind of wondering about life and the future. Always having my music blasting, it was the feeling it gives. Vibes that come like a whole drug for your mind and I needed my fix ha . It turns your regular life into a movie soundtrack. An I was blessed to run into people on the same page. Homie Rigo introduced me to Mexmanny an I was motivated an inspired especially coming from the same area so if he can do it I can too. The Hiphop scene in Arizona is still young like the State but that wasn’t going to stop grown folk business. I had to discipline myself when my head gets big knowing what to improve on an what I need to do. Especially to hold my own weight and bring value to the table. All day writing , deleting, an music playing over an over. Coming with different flows creating a signiture to stand out. In my head thinking I’m bouta come up everyday no matter what people where talking an thinking. I’m proud of my recent Collab with bizzybone because I grew up bumpin bone thugs and I was even prouder he went through with it because he didn’t have to work with me if he doesn’t want. Now that I feel like we got entertainment on lock right now because my partner Manny got soundtracks for anything you need, good quality music production an writing. Bring in the talent an lights camera action it’s showtime an we gotta show em how it’s done. What sets us apart is we got this out mud so we can relate to people that want to work I would say talent but you know what it is. I want people to know that we only getting better , growing and prices are going to go up so if you want to invest cut the check because it’s more than just me it’s for the DirtySubliminalStonAz entertainment brand you want value we going to give you your moneys worth with interest.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Well check out there artwork and donate because starting up they probably ain’t going to have funds especially with life keeping most people uncreative and turning into robots work, shit, eat , repeat I would say sleep but sometimes they overwork people haha then they become bitter and take out there frustration on people around them including artist. Even if you don’t have money to give or spend you can spread the word let people know what so and so has or did.

Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
Money haha but all seriousness the fact of doing what I want to do for a living. Self satisfaction finding your value and proving haters wrong while you prove it to yourself. Because you should be in compition with yourselves. Haters getting mad is the cherry on the cake. To create something an give it life to take care of you. Kind of like people wishing they had a kid that was a star haha just enjoying the journey while living, life’s to short for me to not want more an experience new things or learn something.
