We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Karli Hughes a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Karli, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?

I think the biggest trend in the industry right now is that our clients are doing what makes them feel their best. There are no rules anymore, so the boundaries are endless. People are focused on hyper-personalization and customization based on consultation and personal experience. I find that if you listen to your guest that they tell you everything they are looking for not only with their words but with their body language and energy. Creating an open space where I can learn about what my client expects, leads me to a stronger connection in providing services.

Karli, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m Karli- I became a licensed Cosmetologist in 2002 and have evolved through the industry with many hats and skills. I have always had a fascination of the arts and being able to create beauty. There is something really amazing that happens when you build a relationship with a client. You build trust with them and help their inner confidence shine. From an early start I knew I would be an adventurer and Entrepeneur. I want to make an impact in the beauty industry no matter how small it may be.

I operate several small businesses. Both are very near and dear to me. I am the founder and CEO of Style House LLC (formally known as EverThine Beauty Co.) which is a Full-Service Salon that offers Color, cutting, waxing and all the other trendy services such as extensions and bailage., along with an Onsite Event Hair and Makeup agency. I can come to you to provide service for runway, photoshoots, headshots, wedding services, media and film. I operate a team of 7 for any and all of your needs.

The other business I operate is called Hair Recovery MN, where I help find the root of the problem regarding hair loss. In 2019 I lost most of my hair and decided that I need to do something about it can take action. I am now partnered with National Hair loss and Med Aesthetics to offer anyone with fine and thinning hair some answers. I am able to offer red light laser treatments that are 99% clinically proven and FDA Approved to reduce the loss of hair and stabilize, Hair Talk Hair wear toppers and extensions, Derm rollers, healthy scalp treatments, Hair Follicle testing to find out the client’s sensitivities and deficiencies or illnesses that could be causing the hair loss. And much more.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Being present, offering solutions, and making a connection with the people I serve and the team that I hire. I get in and do the same things I expect from others and I treat others the same.

I don’t give up. I want to have smooth operation and problem solve to find what the best solution may be. I also ask for help and feedback when i need it. I’m learning and growing from every experience. The take aways from what doesn’t work are just as important as what does work.
