We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Karla Pacheco a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Karla , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
I was a regular employee for 15 years in the automobile industry in Puerto Rico, I took various positions seeking to generate more money for my family. I finally took the risk of moving to Florida, jobless, with just $500 in my pocket, but eager to get ahead.
My boyfriend’s family gave us accommodation and in three months, we had a furnished apartment,
a car and everything we needed to settle down.
All this happened leaving my children in Puerto Rico for a year with my parents.
I started working in customer service struggling very hard with English Language,
but I survived.
After a year I found the job I “dreamed about”, a job at a car dealer.
In 2020 I took another risk, I quit my regular job to open my first nutrition club,
with the support of my boyfriend.
I didn’t have clients,
I didn’t know everything I needed to know,
I didn’t know how I would get people to come to my club,
I just knew that I wanted to be my own boss and that
I would do anything to get ahead.
I did not feel fear, only emotion
because something inside me knew that I wanted to have success
The last “risk” I took, to buy the key to another nutrition club in a city
I don’t know and launch myself to conquer the area.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Three years ago, I was very depressed after my dad pass away. I was struggling with my life and health. Taking medications and with no relations around me, I was new in Mulberry, so I did not know people around. I found a Nutrition Club in my neighborhood in March 2019, when I decide to go in, I found people from my Island. I already know the products from Puerto Rico, but the best thing that i found there was the people, exercises and the shakes. After a week visiting the nutrition club for a week I feel better with myself.
A month later me and my boyfriend decide to sign up a membership with the purpose of having discounts in the products.
The coaching that I receive motivates me to start invite people to the nutrition club.
That was the start of a great bussiness.
Overall we help people to know about good nutrition trough our products. A lot of people thinks that we are just to loose weight, but good nutrition is for everybody, so I start learning about our products and use them, having great results. I loose 70 pounds already.
My testimony helps me to bring more people to try our nutrition,
So I start talking about it.
Our customer service and the relations that we built with our clients mark the difference between others. I am so passionate about helping people trough the nutrition, and I get exited every time that someone came to our shop.
We are totally proud of the relations that we build from our business, talk to people, help others to feel better, See how others can regain confidence in themselves when the are reaching their goals.
Have this testimony about how can the control her health because they are learning about nutrition, is a great feeling.
We are building our organization and we are reaching more cities like Winter Haven, Lakeland, Aburndale, Mulberry, Haines City, Plant City. And that is awesome because we can spread the good nutrition around.
Our team is lovely, helping, amazing, we can count with any of them like a family. If you are in Mulberry but someone needs orientation or products in Kissimmee I can reach any of the team members to help with that, Also I can work with people around the world, more than 90 countries.
I just start my business as a part time, but now this is my principal source of income and Im in love with the opportunity because i enjoy what I do
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
There was a lot of process in our journey, a lot of learning and different situations. We learn to resist trough the process, to keep our motivation up all the time. As a bussiness owner our main challenge was the pandemic. In march 2020 we was doing our bussiness part time, So I have a shift after my regular job at my sponsor nutirtion club. two weeks later mi shift was closed becuarse of the Covid, so I have to pick up all my inventory and figure how can I keep my bussiness running. At that moment my husband buy a foldable table and we just put our products in the garage, we have to run in our social media to promote our bussiness and wait for the results. Actually that month we reach incredible numbers. And that point i just realized that I ant to do this full time. This bussiness is about to plant and take care of the sowing in order to receive a good harvest. Patience and consistence are two important words.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Our bussines is simple, with a small amount of money you can start actually, when we decide to go full time and have our own store we just start putting together all the money that comes from our sales and the check, at that time we both work full time, so our bussiness money was an extra income. One day after i realize that I want a Nutrition club, we decide to save our sales and check money to find a lease. We dont touch that money, we just forget about it
