We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Karla Coppel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Karla below.
Hi Karla, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Well definitely, I say perseverance also being resilience to any situation you may encounter. Most people when they start a business or even some when it comes to choosing their career have the tendency of constantly changing their minds towards it, losing the main focus of why they chose to do that it in the first place, now I do believe that it is healthy to change your mind if you feel something isn’t for you, But when you really want something you know it and it will not be easy for sure, it is an experience where you have to try many different things until you find the right one to make it work, in this make take a while before you become successful, so this is where most people start to get tired, lose focus towards the objective and simply stop trying. So my advice would be, take it slow day by day and do not give up.

Karla, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, my name is Karla Coppel, Married to a great Guy and Mom of 2 amazing boys one 17 (Karlo) and the other one 7 (Emiliano). I am the Founder of Karemi Cosmetics, a new makeup brand focusing on the well-being of women, bringing only the best clean beauty products to the industry. I strongly believe that women are the pillars of society, and that is why it is my mission to educate and inform them about the hidden dangers of cosmetic products, and also, encourage them towards self-care, in every area of their lives.
Our health, our society, and our values have inspired me to create this brand promoting safety within the beauty needs of today’s women. I have always been in love with makeup so with that being said I have tried all kinds of products from all brands, until one day I woke up with a huge swollen lip, not knowing it was from a lipstick I had recently bought. So I decided to do a lot of research and while doing this I uncovered a Dark Pandora’s Box behind the Beauty world, so many harsh chemicals in products out there that are actually extremely dangerous to our health in the short and long term wear. I must say that I was very concerned knowing that we, most of the time don’t even know what’s in our beauty products, so throughout prayer and a lot of research, finally came up with the right formulas to create such amazing products, and high-end cosmetics brand, that is top quality in its ingredients and affordable to everyone.
I feel it is very important to teach women about Safe beauty products because I believe women are the pillars of society, what I mean by that well is through women that life is brought to earth, is through women that children are being nurtured, and families are born. It has often been said that the attitude of the wife/mother in the home sets the attitude for everyone else in the home. “If momma ain’t happy, nobody is happy”. it is worth considering that the priorities set by the wife/mother have a direct influence on those of the rest of the family, too. In the makeup world, there are many ingredients that not only are rough on your skin but very unhealthy and dangerous, these can cause sensibility to your skin to even long-term illnesses like cancer. And we all know what bad consequences can come with cancer.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When it comes to Social Media, I can tell you this has been one of the hardest challenges I had to face with the business since everything now has been changing so much, I considered myself old-school marketing where you would just do flyers and pass them around, word of mouth referrals, and maybe some home presentation parties, also paying commercials for radios or tv, but now everything seems to revolve around social platforms and how popular you are on them, so with that being said I had to learn the ins and outs of each platform, building groups, throwing myself out there for live videos, and showcasing products with professional photos, it sure has been hard with all the competition surrounding these platforms, but have been able to manage somehow, I say yes you have to work hard on all this but keep it at your own pace, don’t compare to anyone else, try to find your niche and work around that, build your trust remember customer service is key to everything, integrity and being consistent with your message will eventually bring the right clientele.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
During the pandemic Year, the first manufacturer we were working with, which was in New York, completely shut down, leaving us with the huge challenge, of not having the products that I was so in love with, however during this I was so uncertain of the outcome with all the pandemic situation and business, but I decided to not give up continue to search try new formulas risk making a move in completely reformulating, thinking our current clients probably wouldn’t like it anymore, etc. I had to try new things change the marketing around it and much more :) but let me tell you sometimes those risky moves are the best thing that will happen to you and your business because now I have the best formula ever it actually turns out to be better than the previous one and my clients love it.
