We were lucky to catch up with Karl McIntyre recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Karl thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
My legacy is extremely important to me and is something that I think about all the time, especially since we ask the same question to almost every guest we have on The Blackstage Podcast. I want to inspire others to live life on their own terms. I believe a lot of people do not follow their passions, and work their entire life doing something they do not love. In order to achieve this, I want to create outlets and opportunities for people to follow their passion, and I believe the way I live my life can be a constant reminder that you can follow your passion and still live life to the fullest.
.
Karl, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Queens, New York native of Dominican descent (the island of Dominica) who has a deep rooted passion for storytelling through a visual medium. I am currently the Executive Producer for The Blackstage Podcast and the Founder and Owner of Onetime Visuals, LLC. I began my passion for video production in high school after my physics class was assigned to create a music video using our coursework. During that project, I fell in love with the entire creative process of video production and storytelling. This new found passion led me to study video production in college and eventually land multiple roles in the industry from working on the set of HBO’s The Deuce to being an assistant editor for companies such as Complex and Whistle.
I began freelancing in 2018 and eventually created my own production company, Onetime Visuals, LLC, which serves our clients by creating high quality video content to help increase brand awareness and share their story to the world. We service our clients in all production phases from concept development and script writing to filming and post-production. Onetime Visuals, LLC differs from other companies because we treat every client the same no matter the budget. We are thorough throughout the entire process to ensure our client’s vision comes to life and the end product accurately reflects their brand.
In 2020, I teamed up with Brennan to help launch The Blackstage Podcast where we focus on highlighting the top voices of our generation. Our vision is to use this platform to share the stories of individuals in a wide array of industries to show that there are many paths of success.
I am extremely proud to say that I am following my passion. I love that I am able to connect and collaborate with so many people and I feel blessed to be trusted by my clients and guests to help expand their business/brand. I am able to learn so much from these connections which allows me to continue to grow and expand my knowledge and views with every project I take on.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to teach and inspire the next generation to strive for something greater than themselves and this constantly motivates me every day of my creative journey. I want to make sure I can help as many people as possible, whether it’s amplifying someone else’s voice through my work or sparking ideas with the conversations that I help produce. I try to make sure every project I take on can have a positive impact on its viewers.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative has to be seeing how people experience and react to my art. I love when the work I create can start a conversation and have the audience really think about what they just experienced. With all the content that is being thrown at us daily, I think it is important to be exposed to different perspectives and new ideas that could inspire someone to pursue something they love or something that can help others.
