We recently connected with Karl Green Jr and have shared our conversation below.
Karl, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
Karl Green Jr. began his career in mental health in Harford County, Maryland, serving as an operations specialist for the Drug Court and probation system. Though his role was administrative, he quickly became a trusted confidant for clients, who often shared their daily struggles and emotional burdens with him. It was during these early experiences that Karl discovered his deep calling to support people beyond paperwork—through empathy, advocacy, and connection.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Karl relocated to Baltimore City, where his commitment to recovery work and harm reduction truly took root. He began working with several recovery centers, gradually building a reputation as a compassionate and tireless advocate for the most vulnerable. Known for his grassroots efforts, Karl organized clothing drives and distributed essential supplies to help keep unhoused individuals safe as they navigated life on the streets.
Karl’s hands-on casework and community outreach eventually led to his appointment to the Baltimore City Opioid Restitution Advisory Board, where he proudly serves in the Harm Reduction seat. His journey reflects a powerful blend of lived experience, faith, and service—a testament to the impact one person can have when driven by purpose and compassion.
