Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Karishma Naidu Vohra. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Karishma, appreciate you joining us today. The first dollar your firm earns is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
I vividly remember when I started my career in real estate three years ago. The excitement of having a new career path and entering the world of real estate was exhilarating. However, at the same time, the challenge of starting with no SOI (sphere of influence), friends, and being new to the city was daunting.
At first, I felt helpless and lost as I had limited resources to find clients. Even though I had connections through my previous jobs, I still felt like I was starting from scratch. Despite this, I started hitting the pavement, networking with people, and engaging in as many conversations as I could.
I got my first client through my mentor, who was part of the real estate industry and allowed me to shadow him to learn the process. It was a great opportunity for me to learn from an experienced and successful agent.
Soon after, I started to use social media as a platform to find my own clients. I was determined to offer the best service and was always looking to go the extra mile to help my clients find their dream home. I spent countless hours researching properties and other related information to make the process seamless for them.
One day, I finally found the perfect home for my client, and she was over the moon with her new home. Her happiness was my victory, and it motivated me to work even harder for my future clients. Her satisfaction was so great that she referred me to her friends and family, which helped me expand my network and build a loyal client base.
Fast forward three years, and I now have a successful career in real estate. I have built a strong network of clients, and I continue to keep my clients satisfied with my exceptional service. Looking back, I realize that building a strong network and providing exceptional service to clients is the key to success in any industry..

Karishma, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a new resident to the bustling city of Houston, I knew that entering the real estate industry would be a challenging yet rewarding path. Despite the lack of a personal network and the challenges inherent in a new environment, I was determined to build a successful career in real estate.
I started my journey as a real estate agent three years ago and have since been helping clients in both the commercial and residential markets. My primary focus is to provide a comprehensive experience to my clients, from buying and selling to leasing and everything in between.
As a newcomer to the city and the country, I understand how daunting the process of buying or selling property can be, which is why I put myself in my clients’ shoes and make sure to listen to their needs. Whether my clients are looking for their dream home, an investment opportunity, or a commercial space for their business, I strive to offer the best possible service and build long-term relationships based on trust and respect.
I always put my clients’ interests first and am deeply committed to helping them achieve their real estate goals. I pride myself on being dedicated, reliable, and transparent, so clients know they are getting the best possible service. My optimistic approach and constant drive to learn and adapt to the changing market make me stand out from others in the field.
In conclusion, whether you are a new resident or a longtime Houstonian looking for a real estate agent, I have the skills, knowledge, and dedication to help you achieve your goals. I strive to provide the best possible experience, building relationships built on trust, and guiding my clients with sound advice and a calming presence.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media takes time and effort, but it is absolutely worth the investment. I was fortunate enough to have started building my audience in my hometown in India, where I was a fashion stylist. My followers supported me throughout my professional journey, including my transition to real estate after moving to the United States.
However, after moving to a new country, I took a break from social media posting to settle down and acclimate to the new environment. But, once I resumed posting, I was thankful to find that my followers continued to support me, with many new followers from Houston and the surrounding areas.
To build my social media audience, I focused on consistency and providing value to my followers. I tried to share informative posts and quality photos while also giving my audience a peek into my personal life. I made sure to engage with other users and respond to comments, which helps to build relationships and trust.
Another tip for those starting on social media is to identify a niche and focus on what you do best. Building a personal brand takes time, effort, and a unique approach. Finding your niche can help clarify your message and differentiate you from others. Consistently delivering your best work will anchor you in that niche and attract an audience that values what you have to offer.
In conclusion, building an audience on social media is all about providing consistent value to your followers. Your audience will trust and follow you if you offer them something unique, informative and entertaining consistently and with passion.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Building a reputation takes hard work, dedication, and a focus on meeting clients’ needs. In my case, I believe that several factors helped me build a strong reputation in my market.
The first factor that contributed was social media. My presence on social media platforms has allowed me to connect with my clients and share valuable information with them consistently. By sharing my expertise about the real estate market, and highlighting my successful deals, I have been able to establish myself as a knowledgeable industry professional.
Secondly, my hustle is what sets me apart. I work tirelessly to ensure that my clients are satisfied with my service. I always try to go the extra mile to make sure my clients get what they want and deserve. This commitment serves to distinguish me from other agents in the market and helps in gaining referrals and repeat business.
Expert negotiating skills are equally important in building a reputation within the market. As an experienced agent, I have been able to develop strong negotiation skills that allow me to deal with buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants effectively. By listening to my clients’ needs and putting their interests first, I have earned the trust of my clients, building solid relationships built on the trust and satisfaction of my clients.
Ultimately, my reputation comes down to the combination of these factors. The commitment and dedication to my clients, the hard work and hustle, and the expert negotiating skills that produce success and satisfaction in all dealings. These are the core ideas that I believe have helped me build a reputation in the market that I am proud of.
