We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Karina Zamura. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Karina below.
Alright, Karina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Women United for Support (WUFS) focuses on support, empowerment, and the holistic well-being of women, the name itself emphasizes unity and mutual support, which directly reflects my essence and mission to help women balance professional and personal challenges. The choice of the name WUFS reinforces the sense of community where women can come together for encouragement and opportunities.
I am creating a space for women facing different challenges to come together, lift each other up, and together build resilience and enhance femininity!
Karina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Karina. I have degrees in law and business administration, and I have had a lifelong passion for ballroom dancing. Dance has been a strong part of my life since I was four years old, instilling in me resilience, discipline, and expressiveness—qualities that I believe have helped me thrive, even when I had to start over after moving to a new country.
As an athlete, I understand the importance of getting back up after every fall and continuing with strength and determination. These qualities are at the core of my approach, both personally and in my work with Women United for Support (WUFS). The mission of my non-profit organization is to provide a supportive space for women to focus on personal development, mental health, and empowerment, especially in demanding professional and personal environments. WUFS combines dance therapy with wellness classes, workshops, and community events designed to help women heal, recharge, and achieve balance in their lives.
What sets us apart is our commitment to building a community that addresses the unique mental health needs of women leaders and entrepreneurs. Through our dance programs and personal development sessions, we promote not only physical well-being, but also mental clarity and confidence. I am proud that WUFS serves as a support network that helps women reconnect with themselves and feel empowered to overcome stress, burnout, and the many challenges of life.
I want potential clients, supporters, and fans to know that WUFS is not just an organization—it is an organization built on empathy, resilience, and shared strength. Dance and movement are at the heart of what we do, symbolizing the power, liberation, and joy that comes from moving forward together.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met my business partner Signe at the Latvian Chamber of Commerce in San Diego at a formal event with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. From the very beginning, we felt an immediate connection and discovered that we shared experiences as two women who had both moved from Latvia to America, each with a deep commitment to building and empowering others.
We quickly realized that our visions were perfectly aligned — we are both business-driven and passionate about creating a supportive space for women. Signe’s dynamic energy and strong drive matched my approach, and this shared ambition and vision formed the basis of our friendship and partnership. She often describes me as a visionary leader with a unique ability to turn big ideas into reality, while I admire her transformative coaching skills and active, inspiring personality.
Together, we are building a movement where women can come together to grow, support each other, and unlock their full potential. Our partnership is based on a belief in the power of community and mutual empowerment, which drives us to create meaningful change in women’s lives.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
My best source of new clients is through social connections and community engagement. Since moving to the United States, I have taken every opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and cultures, especially those who have also relocated and are starting a new life. This connection with people who are facing challenges in adjusting to a new environment resonates with my mission at Women United for Support (WUFS), where we support women as they transform and find their footing in new communities.
My social nature, combined with my empathy for others on similar journeys, creates a strong connection that attracts new clients to the organization. Through local events, personal networks, and a shared understanding of the unique challenges women face as they integrate into a new society, I build trust and a sense of belonging—qualities that are invaluable in both friendships and client relationships.
