We recently connected with Karina Müller and have shared our conversation below.
Karina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I had no idea that there is a little bit of talent hidden in me! Participating in a painting workshop during a rehabilitation after a cancer treatment I saw that my paintings where not too bad…
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Years later we moved to a Spanish village called Ayamonte, a small town with more than 100 painters and there started to paint seriously. I. am an autodidact and have no University studies but I am working hard to enhance my skills, going to classes and of course using Internet. First my paintings were figurative, actually I prefer to paint abstract motives.
In February 23 I signed a contract top rent rooms of a former clothing shop with the idea to open a gallery with my artworks and those of guest artistas.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Best support: Not just stand in front of original paintings and say top the artist “oh that’s wonderful” but later buy a cheap print! I think it’s hard to sell art in economically difficult times, people see it as a luxury detail and not that much as something really needed…
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
On my first exhibition I put stickers with a numbers that referred to a price list. One visitor asked me if the price for a nude painting on canvas of 80 x 60 cm he liked is 25 € …. the price was 160 € , which is cheap anyway… but that showed me that some people have no idea of the work behind a painting. But I’m still painting…
