We were lucky to catch up with Karesha Byrd recently and have shared our conversation below.
Karesha , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
This story is so brief yet beautiful! I was at work and was asked by a coworker at the time if I was a good planner? After we discussed that I was, they in turn asked me to plan their wedding! Wow right!? Since then we have been planning from start to finish and now have become best friends!
Karesha , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi there! Kay here, the founder of The Parkway Edit Co. we are a wedding and event planning company. I am truly passionate about what I do and dedicated to making one’s dream a reality. I got started in this industry from a close friend of mine needing wedding planning services. My role as a planner consists of but not limited to, day of event manager, theme shopping day, consultations, serve as your point of contact, and more! I am most proud of the trust my clients have given me to bring their visions to execution.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I was contacted to plan a Bridal Shower and Bachelorette Party. While I was thrilled to execute the vision after a further detail call we decided my services were not the best fit. I took this experience as a learning opportunity and it made me stronger as a business owner!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn was to not be in control of every aspect of this profession. Reason being is because the client is priority and what they want as their vision. My job is to provide my expertise and execute!
