We recently connected with Karen Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Karen , appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
At times, I find myself reflecting on the possibility of having started my business earlier. While I firmly believe in divine timing, I can’t help but ponder whether my delay stemmed primarily from my own self-doubt and fear.
Coach4Life was birthed in July 2020, amidst the global pandemic shutdown, a period marked by unprecedented uncertainty worldwide. Driven by a desire to connect and assist others during these challenging times, I launched my blog. Through this platform, I began engaging with readers on a range of life and everyday topics, aiming to offer support and insight wherever possible.
For several years, I’ve worked as a flight attendant for a low-cost airline, enjoying the flexibility to create my own schedule. While I cherished my time in the air, I also felt a calling to pursue more meaningful endeavors. With over 17 years of coaching experience through my local church, I yearned to expand my reach and leave a lasting legacy for my family. Whenever I’m haunted by thoughts of starting sooner, I can’t help but wonder how many individuals might have benefited from my talents and gifts had I overcome my fears earlier.
Karen , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a Relationship and Conflict Resolution Strategist, Founder of Coach4Life LLC in Las Vegas, NV, and an author, speaker, and teacher, I specialize in guiding individuals towards deeper connections and effective conflict resolution. My expertise lies in marriage, relationships, and the fundamental significance of self-connection. I am frequently invited to share my wisdom and insights on these topics on platforms ranging from local to international stages.
While guiding couples, individuals, and teams on the path to fostering deeper understanding, effective communication, and lasting harmony – I help them navigate the intricacies of the human connection. Being able to play a role in how people perceive and relate to each other is probably the most exciting part of my work.
In addition to providing one-on-one and group coaching services, we offer publications designed to aid clients in forging stronger connections with themselves and others. Our flagship publication, “Take No Thought: a 52-week Guided Journal for Overthinkers,” was released in March 2022. This guided journal has garnered international acclaim and has been distributed in the UK, Japan, Canada, and throughout the United States, resonating with readers seeking to overcome overthinking and enhance self-awareness.
Yet, my greatest source of pride lies in ‘She Said Yes, Now What?’—a practical workbook and guide for engaged and newlywed couples. I crafted this resource with the aim of steering couples beyond the romanticized notions of marriage and toward a deeper understanding of the pragmatic elements essential for sustaining marital longevity.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I’ve learned that establishing trust is paramount in securing people’s investment in your services.
Thus, the deep-rooted relationships cultivated over decades of community volunteering proved invaluable in my journey. Collaborating with my local church and aligning with other compassionate female entrepreneurs paved the way for a loyal base of repeat clients.
Absolutely, marketing strategies undoubtedly play a crucial role, but there’s no substitute for the pre-existing connection clients feel they have with you via a trusted friend or organization.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My coaching career and journey towards entrepreneurship haven’t been void of challenges.
Yet, in the face of adversity, I drew strength from the deep well of resilience rooted in my Jamaican West Indian heritage, a legacy passed down through generations of strong women—my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
These formidable matriarchs instilled in me the belief that there’s no shame in facing difficulties head-on and finding solutions with unwavering determination. Their unapologetic approach to life taught me to recognize needs and to harness my innate ability to meet them, shaping me into the resilient individual I am today.
Therefore, a divorce, single motherhood, and grappling with bankruptcy while navigating a demanding military career at the age of 23, all serve as a testament to the transformative power of resilience, driving my passion to empower others in their own journeys toward healing and fulfillment.
