We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Karen Torres a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Karen, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Evolving Photography used to be named differently but I decided to change it and give it a more appropriate name for the type of brand I’m creating. I’m really delighted for this opportunity that I get to share my mission with my audience and share a bit of me and my brand .
My mission is to create as many creative portraits that will deliver a message such as beauty , confidence and determination. It is a little bit of everything but in a fashion experience .
What do I mean by this? I want to be able to use fashion to tell my own story . Create Art through my lenses and be able to reach as many people as I can . I have finally decided to specialize in Fashion Photography .
Now Fashion Photography has many meanings such as magazine Collaboration , Portraits , Commercial , Clothing etc. .
I have my own meaning and I will tell it as I go by photographing different styles and people and continue photographing the world .
Fashion Photography suits me perfectly because I love to be free and wild when it comes to creating an image . No expectations just expressions but the main mission here is to use fashion to make people love the person they see in the mirror and to captivate the emotions forever.
Karen, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Lets go ahead and start with My name It’s Nancy but mostly everyone knows me as Karen . I’m a 25 year old mom with a toddler whom I love very much and I am married to my best friend who is my biggest supporter . I’m just a young mom trying to to keep it together when it comes to life . Running a business and being a mom and wife is not an easy job but certainly has it rewards . When I started photography I wasn’t a mom so probably this answer would of been different but now I’m a total different person with DIFFERENT goals . I’m a very determined person and creative when something comes to mind. I literally go above and beyond to accomplish all of my goals . I love to encourage everyone that surrounds me and help anyone I can to make sure that I will do my best for my clients .
The type of services I provide are from Portraits to Events and I recently added products to the list which I am pretty excited about. So please reach out if you have some content you need t create and bring your business to the next level.
Now to the next question : What sets me apart from the others?
Well Every Photographer is different I don’t feel or see the competitions because I am my own competition .I’m always thriving to be better than yesterday and just focus on the main vision I have and want to reach. I have my own style and people who chose me as their photographer is because they saw something they like or saw in me or my work so the answer here on what sets me apart from others is my personality . Hopefully one day you get to meet me as a whole!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
For me reputation is very important because I believe that it’s what keeps a business running but also provides value in your business.
What helped me in my business was attending networking events and asking individuals to be my models for a certain session . I was also able to market myself a lot in social media and was very consistent.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media is a very important tool for my business and maintaining a constant presence has helped it grow . I’m constantly interacting with my audience and asking them questions by doing polls on my stories . Also interacting with my followers has helped me gain my followers trust.
My advice to individuals starting is to be consistent and have a lot of patience and most importantly make themselves unique , create your own style , and be yourself . At the end of the day people search for a service but book you for your personally.
