Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Karen Taylor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Karen thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
The defining moment in my professional career was directly related to a defining moment in my personal life. In August 2018, I left my Corporate job in search of something deeper. I felt a pull to do more, but I couldn’t have anticipated the path that was ahead of me. In March, 2019, my sister passed away suddenly in a fire at her home. Everything I thought I knew about life and myself was shattered in an instant. The world no longer made sense and I was left with more questions than answers. I found myself on a journey that would take me to the depth of my emotions and to a place where I found a new version of myself. Along the way, I explored different healing modalities, spiritual practices and tools to help me navigate my grief. I realized that it was through my sister’s death that I found myself and my true purpose. This led me to create my coaching business, Atmalogy where I help other spiritual women who feel stuck following significant loss, rediscover who they are post-loss and find peace again.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I run a coaching business where I help spiritual women who feel stuck following significant loss, reclaim their sense of self and find peace, without feeling overwhelmed or guilty. I hold certifications as a Rapid Transformational Therapy Practioner and as a Grief Educator. I believe what sets me apart is my ability to “make sense of things”. I’m able to consume a large amount of information, drill it down to the most impactful parts, and create an efficient and effective process. My business is called, Atmalogy which means, The Study of One’s True Self. When I was navigating my profound losses, I didn’t realize that this would turn out to be a journey of rediscovering who I am. I, like many others, was never taught or shown how to navigate grief. I believe we live in a grief-illiterate society which drove me to understand grief on a much deeper level and to help change this by educating others. Grief/Loss opens a door to a transformation that not many other experiences present in our lives. Grief changes us and we can’t go back to who we were before the loss. I help clients step through that door and guide them on a journey that spans from the past to the present and ends with a focus on the future. We start by addressing any unresolved grief/trauma that is often buried and holds us back. We then move to the present state where we uncover tools to help navigate the complexities of grief and develop emotional resilience. My favorite part of the program is when we shift our focus to the future. This is where we get to know ourselves on a very deep level. I work with clients on identifying their core values and ensuring their identity is in alignment with what they value most in life. We finish the 3-month program uncovering what their unique purpose is in this world. When clients know their core selves and align their thoughts, feelings, and actions with their core values, it creates true fulfillment and unleashes unlimited potential to create a life they desire and deserve.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Execution! I love to learn and go deep into researching various topics in my field. However, understanding on its own won’t generate results. We must learn to take inspired action toward the goals we want to achieve, leveraging the knowledge that we’ve gained along the way. If our reality doesn’t match what we desire, it is always due to limiting beliefs. I have studied the subconscious mind deeply and recognize that we must engage this part to implement sustainable change. When we untie the knots our limiting beliefs have created, we free ourselves to take action that aligns with our intentions. The fears that have kept us stuck are transformed and we end up feeling excited to push ourselves and venture into the unknown.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn is that failure is not something we should try to avoid at all costs. I am a recovering perfectionist and had a belief growing up that if I was “perfect” then I would receive love and acceptance from others. This belief was reinforced during my Corporate Career where I was told by many people that “failure is not an option”. What I have come to know, is there is no real success as an Entrepreneur without experiencing failure. Failure provides crucial lessons. When something doesn’t work out, it gives you insight into what went wrong and what you can do differently next time. It’s a chance to analyze feedback and make adjustments. Failure has also strengthened my ability to handle adversity, which is essential for achieving my long-term goals.
