We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Karen Romine a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Karen, appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Was it God? I could clearly hear a voice say Karen, and then the voice said it again. I was home alone, upstairs, working on a spreadsheet for a tech company – completely NOT focused on hearing voices! Somehow, I felt at that moment that the voice was filled with love and compassion, so I was not afraid. And, if I am completely honest, it wasn’t the first time I had heard a voice, I had heard them since I was a child. It was just the first time it had seemed to come from outside of me.
At this point in my life, I had committed to building my life in corporate America. I had worked from my early twenties to my fifties building my reputation. I had built a depth of skills in HR, Finance, Technical skills, and much more. I have advised start-ups, companies coming out of bankruptcy and solopreneurs. My last position was as the Co-Founder and President of a tech company in LA – think Airbnb for parking. I still sit on a few boards and continue to get requests to come back to consult for projects.
So, what happened in 2017… I was 55 when I heard the voice I mentioned above. I decided to listen and to make the jump into the spiritual world. I realized at that moment that I could help others at a completely different level. It was actually my superpower. So, I called my business partner that March and said that by December I needed to be completely transitioned out of our company as President and that I was going to build my abilities and skills as a psychic medium. I wanted to connect people with their loved ones in spirit and I wanted to help the spiritual world build their businesses.
How does this tie to “taking a risk” you ask …. I was known as a serious, direct, linear thinker. People trusted me to advise them with millions of dollars – and in a few cases billions were involved. Now I say – I talk to dead people. It was a huge opportunity for me to fail. For me to not be taken seriously. For people to think I had a serious mental health issue – let’s face it, I was saying I was hearing voices and making a significant change in life.
I took the risk. I “knew” it was worth it and I “knew” the impact I could have on others would be remarkable.
So, here I am in career number two – a Certified Psychic Medium and Healer, and a Certified Psychic Investigator, connecting people with their loved ones in spirit, working with law enforcement to help find missing people, and working with executives – to help them use their superpowers!
Was it worth the risk? Absolutely!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Do you know that 90% of people die with regret! Do you know someone who has died, and you didn’t get to tell them something? Do you know someone who has passed, and you didn’t get to hear the one thing you were waiting for? Do you want evidence that there really is life after death?
I’m Karen Romine and I talk to dead people! That’s right – I can help you communicate with your loved ones in spirit!
I recently had a client tell me after a reading he called all his siblings to tell them he just talked to Mom. He never thought he would say those words again!
As a Certified Psychic, Medium and Psychic Investigator, I bring spirit through for individuals, groups, and I even work with law enforcement to help find missing people.
Have you ever thought about uncovering your own psychic and mediumship gifts, learning to master them?
My mission is to help women uncover their psychic and mediumship gifts, and master and monetize them.
I offer a free 30-minute Soulful Strategy Session to determine where you are, what you hope to achieve and how you can get there using your psychic and mediumship abilities. This may include building your business in the spiritual world or building your Fortune 500 company by listening to that inner voice.
I am most proud of the volunteer work that I have done with law enforcement across the world to help families find their missing loved ones. It is a way to help people that are under a great amount of stress and the same time it is a way to bring awareness to this work that I do to help people understand the reality of it.
Here is my short professional bio. It gives you an idea of how I can help you integrate your psychic abilities in your business!
Karen’s expertise is in investor relations, project management, operational flow, human resources, and finance. In her prior career, Karen worked in operations for companies in start-up or transitional phases for over thirty years. Karen oversaw day-to-day operations for the corporate office of one of the nation’s largest hotel management companies, which helped to facilitate the acquisition of $485 million and the formation of a real estate investment trust.
From there, she worked with C level management for a passenger ground transportation business consolidator from inception to sale. The business grew from the initial acquisition of 6 companies to over 70 company acquisitions and $900+ million in assets in 4 years.
Karen’s vast organizational skills have also helped struggling businesses turn a new leaf, including her role in a company that was $22+ billion in debt and ultimately became a Fortune 500 Company over 3 years. Moving into the world of music, Karen took her expertise in running day-to-day operations for a world-famous Houston-based record label, aiding in the production of 60+ releases, including a non-profit album created to raise awareness of homelessness in the city.
Then, Karen took on her role as Co-Founder and President of a Los Angeles based tech company. The environmentally friendly startup was formed in 2014 to help the environment and to improve people’s lives by utilizing underused parking in the greater Los Angeles area. Karen continues as a consultant and remains on their Board of Directors.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me is referrals. Although it was a slower growth and my only source at the beginning it was perfect for me. I started a Facebook page because I was familiar with that social media platform, I didn’t know any others. I relied on people to share their experiences with me and that is exactly what happened.
Why is this so important … well in my world, there are a lot of clients that are emotionally distraught. They have lost a loved one, someone very significant to them. They are looking for answers. They will take you at your word. As a wonderful mentor of mine once said – you can’t remember what you had for dinner 3 nights ago, but you can remember, almost verbatim, what a psychic medium told you 10 years ago. And that is the truth.
I want to be known for being compassionate and ethical when I deliver readings, and this was the only income stream I had at the beginning. I knew, because of the referrals, that people trusted me and felt comfortable.
Now, as I move more into helping spiritual businesses grow, referrals are again the most important. It is a confirmation that I have had a positive impact on someone else’s business. It is the least expensive way to advertise.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
“The Untethered Soul” by Michael Singer has most significantly impacted my approach to management and entrepreneurial thinking by providing profound insights into self-awareness, mindfulness, and the nature of the mind. As an entrepreneur, cultivating self-awareness is crucial for effective decision-making, team collaboration, and navigating the challenges of business. This book encouraged me to observe my thoughts, emotions, and reactions without attachment, enabling me to gain a clearer perspective on what my motivation is / was. This heightened self-awareness empowered me to make more conscious and strategic choices, leading to improved communication, adaptability, and overall business success.
Furthermore, the book introduced me to the concept of transcending the ego, which can be particularly transformative for entrepreneurial thinking. Entrepreneurship often involves taking risks, facing uncertainty, and dealing with setbacks. By understanding and detaching from the ego’s need for validation and control, I am better able to approach challenges with a more open and resilient mindset. “The Untethered Soul” encouraged me to let go of limiting beliefs and fears that might hold me back, allowing me to embrace innovation and creativity with a greater sense of freedom. This shift in philosophy led me to increased adaptability, a willingness to learn from failures, and the ability to inspire and lead my various teams through periods of change.
Overall, I would say the book enabled me to create a more harmonious and purpose-driven business environment.
