We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Karen Bell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Karen (Nelson middle name) below.
Karen, appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My mom and dad were both artists in several dimensions, my dad an amateur pianist and professional graphic artist, my mom an amateur pianist and violinist and professional writer and proofreader. There was music and art in our home at all times. Mom collected eccentrics like other people collect Beanie Babies, and there were always musicians, sculptors, painters, and writers around bringing their viewpoints into my young world.
When I was 5-years-old, Mrs. Wilson, my first piano teacher, told my parents that I’d never be any good at playing piano. They had good sense to immediately take me to Mr. Canterbury, where I blossomed as a prodigy, performing in my teens with the symphony orchestra in my hometown.
I begged my parents for a typewriter so that I could pursue my dream of writing, but they said no to my pleas. I wrote them my first persuasion piece, a sales letter with bullet points and a very specific call to action. I proposed that I would make installment payments from my allowance. My writing paid off because they gifted me the typewriter for my 12th birthday!
I’m pretty sure they never really dreamed that I’d end up making my living my whole life as a musician, writer, and producer, but with their love and support, and for instilling in me the notion that I could do anything, here I am. They were able to see and enjoy much of my successes in both fields. I’m grateful beyond measure.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Karen Nelson Bell, a passionate advocate for healthy, sustainable living and the author of “KNB’s KETO EXPRESS.” My journey into the world of health and nutrition began out of a personal quest to improve my own health and lifestyle. Over the years, I realized that the key to maintaining a healthy diet isn’t just about strict regimens; it’s about finding balance and making it fit seamlessly into our busy lives. This realization led me to the ketogenic diet – a lifestyle that emphasizes low-carb, high-fat eating. However, the challenge was adapting this diet to a hectic schedule without compromising on taste or nutritional value. That’s where “KNB’s KETO EXPRESS” comes into play. It’s a book that offers quick, delicious keto recipes tailored for people with busy lifestyles. It simplifies meal planning, carb counting, and makes the keto diet accessible to everyone, regardless of their culinary skills or time constraints.
In terms of services, alongside my book, I offer personalized consultations to help individuals embark on their keto journey. I believe in providing tailored advice that considers personal goals, lifestyle, and dietary preferences. This personalized approach sets me apart, as I focus on making the keto lifestyle sustainable, enjoyable, and stress-free.
I am most proud of the feedback from readers who’ve transformed their lives using the guidance from my book. Hearing stories of improved health, increased energy, and newfound confidence in the kitchen is incredibly rewarding.
For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want you to know that “KNB’s KETO EXPRESS” is more than just another diet book or cookbook. It’s a gateway to a healthier lifestyle, designed with the modern, busy individual in mind. Whether you’re new to keto or looking for ways to keep your diet exciting and manageable, this book might be for you. It’s not just about losing weight; it’s about gaining a new perspective on food and enjoying what you eat without feeling deprived or isolated. Food is not only a necessity of life, it’s fun, it’s family, it’s friends. I can help you design your own food system so you can enjoy life while remaining healthy.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
In order to stay in touch with my clients, I love to host frequent phone calls and webinars. I prefer to keep it open and informal so that anyone can ask me any question. If a question gets repeated, that’s OK, because most people need to hear solutions more than once.
Since my brand is myself, I strive to bring my true self to the proceedings and stay present for each person individually. Since there is no one style of eating that suits every person, it’s important to listen to each client’s needs not only nutritionally but emotionally as well.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
In 2001, I picked up a beach-read book to take on vacation called “Multiple Streams of Income” by best-selling author Robert Allen. In the back of the book was an invitation to reach out for a personal relationship with the author, so I signed on for a mentoring program that allowed me to envision new and innovative ways to disseminate my art.
Perhaps the most valuable concept I gained was to create genuine relationships with your readers. My relationship with Robert grew into a lifelong friendship and the co-authoring of the Amazon bestseller “Nothing Down for Women.”
