We recently connected with Karen Janey and have shared our conversation below.

Karen, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share a customer success story with us?

About 2 years ago I had a male student attend one of my classes and noticed he showed up for every class that I taught (4 classes weekly). One day he came up to me and asked how is that I radiate peace without sacrificing myself. That was the first time I’ve ever had anyone ask me that and I had to take a moment because it was such a deep and thought provoking question. So after my explanation I told him be true to who you are as we aren’t here to be the best in a pose but find out who you are at your core. He continued to attend my classes after that conversation on regular staying afterwards to work on his breathing, existing in the present moment and being present without expectations. After a year of attending my classes he told that he found his calling at the age of 45 and went back to school to become a doctor. Unfortunately I was not there when he left this message so it was left for me and literally brought me to tears. He thanked me for my care, generosity and just being able to hold space for him in a time when he was lost. He found his peace which led him on am amazing journey and I’m so blessed to have been a paragraph or chapter in his story.

Karen, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Karen Janey and I’m the owner of ZenfullyKJ Yoga by Karen LLC. Owning my own business was an idea I had planned for later in life after I retire from Corporate America. However when your ready the universe allows for plans to align so you can walk in your purpose which is why I’m here. I am an enthusiastic, loving, and empathetic yoga instructor whose teaching and personal practice focuses on both Yin/Yang energy and bringing them into harmony. Because of the dual sun and moon energy my classes range from Vinyasa, Gentle, Yin, and Restorative with an innate love for Yin. My approach to teaching is one of thought and care which enables me to teach the beginner to advanced yogi while always remaining a student of the practice myself.

I have my certification in Yin Yoga as well as my 200 hours from the Zenya Yoga Teacher Training program and currently enrolled in the 300 hours. I am here to honor you where you are knowing this journey of life can be challenging so creating a space where you feel safe to be still or move how your body feels. Offering yoga classes made for everyone in every body. Teaching yoga in a holistic manner by honoring its origin and tailoring it for each students needs.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

Building a social media presence is difficult especially for a business. You have to be diligent about posting every day and multiple times a day. All you need is one like or share to help propel your business. Take the mindset that your in it for the long haul and not the money so knowing that be authentic with who you are and follow brands and others of like mind. Your brand/social media won’t be for everyone nor should it be but with patience and daily communication of posting something online about your business will allow it to grow.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

Being Karen (ZenfullyKJ)! When I first started teaching I had a client leave me a horrible review. And you know once it’s online you can’t take it back. I was down in the slumps for weeks after that but kept teaching. I noticed after a few months my classes began to grow almost to the point of capacity. And the person that left that bad review came back to my class again a year later and left a glowing review. Moral is I’m not the yoga instructor for everyone and I had to learn that and it’s okay. The students who share in my energy are the ones I service. I remain true to Karen with tweaks on my teaching style but eventually found my niche and it has allowed me to gain the success and peace I have today! I’m always a student of my craft and I thanked her for both reviews because it has brought me here.
