We were lucky to catch up with Karen Cerboni recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Karen thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
I approach my business a bit differently than I think most do. For me, starting my company is a second career after spending thirty five years in corporate America. Because of that, while of course I want to be successful and profitable, I am less focused on growth and more focused on my passion and providing my clients with a very personal elevated experience. I am personally involved in the design, planning and coordination of every wedding. To do that, I limit the number of clients I accept each year.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started my business in 2017 unofficially when I started planning my daughter’s wedding. From there I took business only by referrals until 2019 when EventFull Weddings was officially launched. We are a full wedding planning company and assist clients with the design, planning and coordination of their wedding and any related events. I think what sets me apart from others is I spent 35 years working in the insurance industry for a military service company before starting my business. Those years of experience translate to providing my clients with a level of quality service and professionalism that surpasses others. I believe that is the number one reason I was able to grow my business to what it is now. I give each client the same personal level of attention to detail I gave to my own daughter when planning her wedding. I am personally invested in every wedding and present as the lead coordinator at each which is why we book only one weddng per weekend.
Our clients want a boutique style experience when planning their wedding. They like a more modern aesthetic with high end touch points for their guests. Moody colors, luxury textiles and romantic floral designs are key components in our designs.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Our reputation in the wedding industry is one of being very organized, positive and able to calmly handle the pressure and stress of highly orchestrated events. The wedding industry can be very clicky and competitive. I try to stay away from that as much as possible by fostering relationships with vendors that approach wedding planning as a team. We are all here to support each other to help grow each others’ businesses and to have a beautiful end result with happy clients. The attention to detail we devote to every client and the professional manner we manage our vendor relations is recognized and appreciated. It’s a pretty simple formula of positivity, professionalism and attention to detali.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
We are proud members of the Marry Me Tampa Bay community of wedding professionals. This has been a great resource for gaining new clients as well as meeting other industry professionals and continued education.
