We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Karelia Arauz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Karelia below.
Karelia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you manage your own social media?
As a small business owner I wear many hats. For now, I manage my social media and mostly use Instagram to share my work. I am a bit of a control freak so I am not quite ready to have someone take over but I am sure there will come a point where I’ll have no choice but outsource some help. Until then, I’ll wear my hats proudly!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Karelia. I am a professional organizer who specializes in creating simple and functional storage systems for any area of your home, office or even storage unit.
I’ve been passionate about organizing since my senior year in high school and I am so blessed to finally be doing what I love for a living! In a way, I have to thank the pandemic for allowing me to pivot, had we never gone through this I think I would’ve still be pushing through life doing what society expected of me instead of focusing on what makes ME HAPPY!
As an organizer my goal is to help my clients reclaim their space while letting go of things that no longer serve them. I am not here to judge but instead lend a hand to the busy professional, overwhelmed mama, avid collector, etc….
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Instagram. I’d put some ads out in the past but it’s a sign of the times when almost all new clients are coming via DM.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Anything by Chris Guillebeau. His daily podcast is ‘side hustle school’ is phenomenal and his books are like chicken soup for the entrepreneurial soul.
