We recently connected with Kareece St George and have shared our conversation below.
Kareece, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you find your key vendor or vendors? Maybe you can share the backstory and share some context and the relevant details to help us understand why you chose them, why they chose you, etc.
For me, research is very important. I believe in making sure you have the right and accurate information to be successful in business. I did alot of Internet research on the types of products that people need, the ingredients and the pricing. I found my vendors through at least 3 online websites. I didn’t have to really strike a deal, as they had quite a few deals going on at the same time.
I found my vendors through overseas websites. I was very impressed with the costs, deals, products and the packaging. Everything looked so professional at an affordable cost. Plus, I read the reviews of other satisfied customers and knew I found some good and reliable vendors. I received a few of my products and was very satisfied with labeling and the products. I try to purchase and sell products that are not only needed but unique.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Well, I am from a small town here in the state of Florida. Which is called Lake City, I then moved to Jacksonville, then to Orlando, then back to Jacksonville, Fl. I got in to the cosmetic industry because it was something, I was always interested in. Having to deal with oily skin and acne as a teenager, I was determined to learn and continue with a good skin care routine. After going into the Military in 2005, I ran across many service members who had either their own skin care issues and or who sold cosmetics and I learned even more about skin care and different types of skin care products.
The products I provide are facial sheet masks, facial oil, soaps designed to not only cleanse but help with skin care issues, variety of lip gloss colors from gloss to matte. Several products for men such as beard oil, beard wash and conditioner, lip lightening balm and a honey infused lip balm for men.
What sets me apart from others, is that I am focused on skin care and lip care. I believe that when you look good, you feel good and when you feel good, you perform good. I strive to provide good quality products at an affordable cost. I am most proud of having the time and getting over the fear of failure and starting this second business. It has always been a passion and I am proud to finally have achieved another goal. The main things I want potential clients, followers and fans to know about me and my brand, is that we are honest, open to suggestions and ideas and want everyone to know that you can should look your very best.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Well,I know alot of people through my previous employers, being in the military and being apart of prestigous organizations. Having these connections, allowed me to meet new people to learn and grow as a new business owner. I decided to create business pages on various social media sites, which has helped me to continue growing my audience. I also follow other brands, companies and popular bloggers to bring attention to my businesses.
My advice would be to create business pages on various social media networks. Continue posting to gain attention and stay relevant. Post jokes, your ads, flyers, information about your products and inspirational messages. People love to see things that are inspirational and funny. This helps brings attention to your pages and your business.
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
Not at the present time, I do plan to use Amazon and Etsy in the future, as I do enjoy being a consumer on those sites. I am currently using Shopify, on my own website and I use Linked In, Facebook, Instagram,Twitter and Google for advertising, interaction and showcasing my businesses.
The pros are, meeting new people, potential clients, other business owners and new vendors. I learn and grow with the interactions and I love the attention, I receive. I get to be creative with my ads and flyers and its very affordable at the present moment. The cons are that things will be very slow at first, and in order to make money, you must spend more money. I currently have 2 ads running for 2 weeks at a time but I know I need to branch out and use more platforms and pay for more advertising.
