We were lucky to catch up with Kansys Clouse recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kansys, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents have been an instrumental part of my success. Growing up I saw my mother working hard and long hours at the bank. She started as a bank teller and worked her way all the way to a top position with hard work and dedication. To this day she works so hard in her job and continues to persevere with a smile on her face. My father also worked very hard and always supported my mom in her work and this was also something I admired. He worked from home so my sister and I would have someone at home when we got off the school bus. He always encouraged me to be a strong independent woman, like my mom. He taught me that women can do anything they set their mind to and encouraged me to find a spouse who supports that as well. Growing up in a supportive household with hard working parents pushed me to reach my goals in life and always move forward.
Kansys, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello! My name is Kansys Clouse, I am a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner and business owner. I have been working in the medical field for the past 12 years. My initial goal when entering the medical field was to become a Plastic Surgeon or work in Plastics in some way. I have always had a passion for making people feel better about themselves, however that may look for someone. I started out as a medical assistant in home health while pursuing my nursing degree. When I became an RN I worked on a Neuro/ortho surgery unit, then in the Emergency department. While working night shift in the ER I was getting my Masters degree in Nursing and graduated Nurse Practitioner school in 2018. I started working in an Urgent care setting as a Nurse Practitioner this was when I pursued further education in Medical Aesthetics. With the strong desire to help others feel more confident this avenue of medicine felt perfect to me. I was lucky enough to get a job in Aesthetics on the side while continuing to work full time in Urgent care. I quickly fell in love with this career and knew this was exactly what I was meant to do. I worked for an established Medical Spa for 3+ years before going out on my own 1.5 years ago when I opened The Aesthetic Co.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Honesty, integrity and customer service. I strive to never “sell” to my patients but to “suggest”. I don’t want my patients to ever feel like just a number or dollar sign. I want them to feel valued and heard. I often hear in patient reviews and comments that they appreciate this approach and that is why they continue to come back. I am honest about what treatments work well and what don’t. In the world of google searches and social media patients will come to me saying they need a specific treatment because someone from social media got it and it looks amazing. This is a great educational opportunity for me to tell patients that each treatment is individualized and then assess the patient to see if they truly are a good candidate for that treatment, or if it will just be a waste of money because it wouldn’t work well for their face and particular needs. I only carry and use products in my practice that I truly believe in and have tried myself. I never push something I don’t fully understand the mechanism of action and understand why I am using the product, I think this sets me aside from others in the industry.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth has been a wonderful tool, if you can maintain a client and get them to refer their friends that is invaluable to a practice. Once you retain the friend then the friend tells another friend and so on. I have found this to be a huge success in my business. The other important part of running my business is marketing, I use a marketing team who values my business just as much as I do and is genuine in their desire to help my business. In my opinion marketing should be the number one cost in the business because it is how we get clients in the door. Once they are in the door it is our job to retain them and build a trusting valuable connection with the client so they will continue the word of mouth domino effect.
