We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kanita Glover a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kanita, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

I attract people who are preparing for the most important days of their lives. These amazing clients are planning to take care of the most important people in their lives as well. When I take a moment to be present I am so honored and grateful to be trusted with the responsibility of creating moments to remember.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I realized later in life, I am a creative. Once my joy aligned with my work ethic which equated to consistent over satisfied clients I knew this is what life is about. I did not expect to work in event industry. If I thought hard enough I would say the private event industry chose me. I was discovered and recruited into setting up and operating elaborate bars in the most exclusive spaces for seemingly very exclusive crowds. I’m not talking about your typical celebrity crowd. We’re celebrities in attendance? Sure. But they were usually a personal guest of someone not in show business. These clients owned universities, created the innovative biotech firms, owned resorts, etc. I had a natural charm that focused on the craft and not the hype. I connected with people in a human level. I honored the globe through the art of beverage and entertaining. I focused on genuine connection and a theme.

My name is Ka’Nita Glover. I am the Founder of a boutique cocktail catering company servicing Southern California and destination based private events. I focus on weddings, corporations, and milestones. I have a full liquor license both offsite and brick and mortar. This is what sets us apart from competitors. What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of my creative work is balance in my schedule. The freedom to use my time, energy, and finances to create more health, wealthy, and happiness. I love my Administration days and the comfort I can create while being productive and profitable. I love the value I bring to spaces. I love when guest are engaged in my backstory and vast knowledge I have gathered in my journey. I absolutely love being able to utilize my creativity similar to how culinary chefs use theirs. I get to connect with the most incredible humans and animals. I get to calm this “work”.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?

I do not care or expect to be understood by non creatives. I care and expect to take accountability for making myself happy and inspired. I don’t think about what non creative’s struggle to understand. I definitely do not expect them to comprehend my journey. Non creatives are my best clients. I assume they are inspired by my freedom during the week and they are not jealous that I work almost every Saturday. Some Non creatives look down on me, some are ready to quit their “safe jobs” and join me! Some see the endless possibilities and growth. Others try to treat me like I “need to get a real job”. I have a lot of “non creatives” on my team and they are shocked at how rewarding my business is!
