We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kaneica Gray. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kaneica below.
Alright, Kaneica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
When I found out I was going to be a mother it changed my whole entire life and everything I thought I knew for myself. I comfortable with hustling, stay up late , waking up early and pulling up to whatever and wherever I thought was cool. I didn’t have structure. I had the privilege to do whatever I wanted without much error and it was as of God himself said “sis, it’s time to sit down”.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Once I became a mom, I realized most of the friends I had in my life saw me as the “strong friend”. And when it was time for me to lean on others, everyone was completely conflicted. I didn’t understand but I knew I had to change my life and what I allow in order for me to have a healthy life and relationships. About 4 months postpartum I decided to create an event series called “The Soft Life Series”. I didn’t know exactly what I was getting myself into but I knew if it healed me, it would heal others.
The soft life trend encourages women to live authentically and a life of ease. My goal is to continue to create a platform for women who feel like they’re still learning what a soft life means to them. I want women to feel comfortable being themselves, loving themselves and most importantly learning themselves despite what the world throws at us. The stress of the world and our environment was never ours to carry.
My first event was in Atlanta in June and it completely surpassed my expectations. I could cry thinking about how warm and loving the environment was but also very real.
The Soft Life Series brand will stand as a women empowerment brand and continue to grow with more events, partnerships and bringing a community together and myself, Kaneica Gray, will continue to be a voice used to help and aide in healing former people pleasers and “strong friends”. We’re all in this together.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn hustle culture, especially on social media. We tend to believe that if it’s not on Instagram, it isn’t happening. It created a version of myself that only looked good and perfect on social media even though I was just trying to figure everything out.
Me being portrayed this way brought on friends who wanted to live that “lifestyle” not realizing all the work and stress that came with it. People, even those already close to me, we’re only around me for opportunities.
It took a toll on me eventually because when I really needed people to show up for me the way I showed up for them, whether it was business or personal, they weren’t there.
Now I am showing up on social media giving my chill side as well as a bit of work and it’s been a lot healthier for me.
