We were lucky to catch up with Kandon Kyser recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kandon, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is my Paths Project, a body of work deeply rooted in themes of journey, direction, perseverance, and overcoming obstacles. The project was initially inspired by a sermon from my pastor, Joe Johnson, who spoke about how life’s paths are rarely straightforward. Instead, they twist, turn, and sometimes lead us to dead ends before we find our way forward. That message resonated with me on a personal level and became the foundation of my creative exploration.
At its core, Paths is a visual and conceptual narrative that reflects the realities of navigating life—whether in faith, career, or personal growth. Through line art, maze motifs, and guidance symbolism, I illustrate how people seek direction and overcome setbacks. The project also serves as a bridge between spirituality and contemporary art, allowing me to translate abstract ideas into tangible forms that others can connect with.
Beyond the artistic expression, Paths holds a personal significance because it mirrors my own journey. As a creative entrepreneur, I’ve faced challenges in balancing artistic integrity with commercial viability. I’ve had moments of doubt, redirections, and necessary course corrections. But just like in the project, each turn has led me to deeper understanding and purpose.
What makes Paths truly meaningful is its ability to resonate with others. People see themselves in the work—they see their struggles, their perseverance, their faith. It’s a reminder that while the road may not always be clear, there is always a path forward.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Kandon Kyser, and I’m a multidisciplinary creative, entrepreneur, and the founder of Feels Foreal Company. My journey into the creative industry has been anything but linear—much like the themes explored in my Paths Project. From photography and videography to design and digital art, my work exists at the intersection of culture, storytelling, and business. My passion is not just in creating but in cultivating meaningful experiences that connect people to ideas, emotions, and each other.
My creative journey began with a love for storytelling and visual expression. Early on, I was drawn to photography and videography, using them as tools to document life and culture authentically. Over time, I expanded my skill set to include graphic design, 3D modeling, animation, and creative direction. I was fascinated by how art and commerce intersect—how creative works can be both deeply personal and commercially impactful. This curiosity led me to pursue a formal education in art and design, where I refined my skills and developed a deeper understanding of how creativity influences business and branding.
This blend of art and strategy is what continues to drive me. I believe that creativity should not be confined to traditional formats—it should be immersive, intentional, and functional. Whether it’s a brand identity, a product launch, or a visual campaign, my goal is to bridge the gap between raw artistic expression and commercial success.
Through Feels Foreal Company, I offer a wide range of creative services tailored to individuals, businesses, and organizations looking to elevate their visual presence and brand storytelling. My work includes but is not limited to:
* Photography & Videography – High-quality portraits, lifestyle, commercial, and brand storytelling content.
* Graphic Design – Logos, branding, marketing materials, and digital content creation.
* Creative Direction – Conceptualizing and executing visual strategies for businesses, artists, and entrepreneurs.
* 3D Modeling & Animation – Bringing ideas to life through motion design and immersive visuals.
I don’t just create visuals—I help businesses and individuals tell their stories in a way that feels real, intentional, and impactful.
Many individuals and businesses struggle with translating their vision into high-quality visuals that resonate with their audience. Whether it’s a lack of creative direction, brand identity issues, or simply not knowing how to stand out, I step in to provide clarity and execution.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge fine art aesthetics with commercial viability—I create work that is not only visually striking but also strategically designed to engage audiences. I approach every project with a deep sense of storytelling, ensuring that the final product isn’t just content, but a meaningful experience.
Additionally, I have a unique ability to connect with people on a cultural and emotional level. My work often incorporates themes of community, faith, perseverance, and personal growth. This allows me to create content that feels authentic and speaks to people in a real way.
One of my proudest projects is my Paths Project, which explores themes of journey, perseverance, and direction through visual storytelling. Inspired by a sermon from my pastor, the project is both a personal and universal reflection on how we navigate life’s twists and turns. It’s a perfect example of how I use art to explore deeper meanings and connect with people beyond just aesthetics.
More than anything, I want people to know that my work is about impact. Whether I’m working with a brand, an individual, or a community, my goal is always to create something that moves people—something that makes them think, feel, and see the world differently.
For potential clients, followers, and collaborators: if you’re looking for intentional, high-quality creative work that bridges art, culture, and commerce, I’d love to work with you. Whether it’s building a brand, capturing a moment, or telling a story, I’m here to bring your vision to life in a way that feels real.
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
One of my most memorable marketing and sales experiences was when the artist Wale came to my city for a concert. Wale is known for his deep connection to fashion and design, and at the time, I had just released some high-quality reversible hoodies that I knew would align with his style. I saw an opportunity—not just to make a sale, but to get my brand in front of someone who truly appreciates fashion.
On the day of the show, I attempted to purchase tickets, but I noticed the meet-and-greet option was unavailable. Determined, I reached out to a friend who worked at the venue, and while he confirmed that the meet-and-greet wasn’t open, he encouraged me to still attend, assuring me that if there was a way to make something happen, we’d figure it out.
During the concert, I had multiple friends working behind the scenes, trying to help me on my mission. Shoutout to my community—this was truly a team effort. One of my friends had a connection with two of the most prominent DJs in the city and said they would try their best to get us access to Wale. I tagged along with him, strategically positioning myself where Wale was expected to meet fans.
Then it hit me—I had the product (the hoodie), but I had nothing in the packaging that linked it back to me. No business card, no branding, no contact information. Even if I got the hoodie into Wale’s hands, he wouldn’t know where it came from or how to find me.
I had to think fast. I checked my wallet and saw my business debit card, which had both my name and business name on it. In that moment, I made a split-second decision—I deactivated my card and threw it into the packaging with the hoodie. My thought process was simple: If Wale or someone on his team had any sense of decency, they’d try to return the card to me. That way, I’d at least open a line of communication with them.
Long story short, the mission was a success. I was able to get the hoodie to Wale, and the next day, his team reached out to return my card. They thanked me for the hoodie and told me I was welcome to send designs to Wale anytime.
This experience taught me a valuable lesson about creative problem-solving in marketing. It wasn’t about making a sale in that moment—it was about finding a way to get my brand in front of the right people, even when the odds weren’t in my favor. Sometimes, you have to take risks, trust your instincts, and use the resources at your disposal to create opportunities.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building my reputation within my market has been a combination of how I treat people, my consistency, my investment in my craft, and accountability. These core principles have shaped my career and helped establish trust with my clients, collaborators, and creative community.
Treating People Well – At the heart of everything I do is genuine connection and respect. Whether it’s a client, a collaborator, or a fellow creative, I believe in building strong relationships, being professional, and making sure people feel valued. My business isn’t just about creating—it’s about serving people and making an impact through creativity.
Consistency – One of the most important aspects of building a strong reputation is showing up and delivering quality work time after time. From my earliest projects to where I am now, I’ve remained committed to maintaining a standard of excellence, ensuring that every client or project gets my best effort. Consistency builds trust, and trust builds a strong brand.
Investing in My Craft – I don’t just rely on talent—I actively invest in my skills, my education, and my tools. Whether it’s learning new techniques, upgrading my equipment, or understanding the latest industry trends, I make sure that I’m always evolving. This commitment to growth keeps me ahead of the curve and allows me to offer top-tier creative solutions to my clients.
Accountability – I take full ownership of my work, my responsibilities, and my promises. If I say I’m going to do something, I make sure I follow through. Being reliable and holding myself accountable has allowed me to build trust and credibility within my industry. People know they can count on me, and that has played a major role in growing my reputation.
At the end of the day, reputation is built over time, not overnight. By focusing on people, consistency, skill development, and accountability, I’ve been able to create a brand that people recognize, respect, and want to work with.
