We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kandon Kyser a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kandon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
At this point in my creative journey it is really important to me to get my point across. I feel like nowadays you have to find new and authentic ways to communicate with your audience. You have to be able to take whatever grandiose idea or vision you have and make it digestible. My Enjoy The Meantime Project is an ode to appreciating the present, taking your time, and adaptation. I think the biggest hurdle I’ve faced as of late was my explorations in 3D Art. I’m about year into my graduate program and i’m really just starting to grasp the workflow. Im not someone who grew up thinking about 3D animation as a career or a hobby so the learning curve has been quite intensive for me. Im genuinely someone who got inspired and said to myself “yea I want to do that kind of stuff” and went for it. Ive been producing music for a little over 10 years nows and every year the landscape in music production gets more and more saturated, which is good! but at the same time it means you have to find ways to separate yourself from the pack. 3D Art has giving me the visual aesthetic necessary to present my ideas, my music, and my stories.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Kandon Kyser, im a Beat Maker/ Dj based in Mobile, AL. Ive been producing music for a little over 10 years now, I have a Bachelors Degree in Digital Cinema, and im currently working towards my Masters Degree in Creative Technologies and Practice. I own and run a Brand Called Feels Foreal. Feels Foreal at its core is “an ever expanding collection of stories and ideas” which to me means a collections of different projects that coexist in one unique universe.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think non creatives have a hard time understanding the art space and how it works. Most creative services aren’t necessities and for the most part considered recreational. I think non creatives have a hard time seeing the value in a person’s time and talent and how that translates to how much they charge for their work. In general most people don’t understand creating things cost money.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think consistency and innovation have really been my strong suits. I try my best to share with my audience on a consistent basis regardless of if there’s something to sell or not. I want be people to buy into my lifestyle as a creator along with the products I create.
