We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kandice R. Winfield a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kandice, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about how you got your first non-friend, non-family client. Paint the picture for us so we can feel the same excitement you felt on that day.
When I first moved to Northwest Arkansas, I honestly didn’t know what I was going to do. I didn’t have a formal degree, but I decided to go back to school to further my marketing education and to give myself a stronger foothold in a new community. I knew I needed to find something that allowed me to serve others while building something sustainable for myself. So one day, I placed a simple Google ad that just said “Mobile Notary.” No fancy graphics, no business plan — just a genuine offer to help.
I don’t remember my very first call, but I vividly remember my first set of calls. They came from local retirement centers, where families needed notary services for loved ones who couldn’t leave their homes. I drove from facility to facility, sitting with elders who had spent their lives serving this community and were now in a place where they needed someone to serve them. Standing there with them — helping them complete powers of attorney and healthcare directives — something shifted in me. I realized that this wasn’t just a service; it was a calling.
When I collected my first $40 payment that day, I didn’t yet have set fees or a business plan, but I knew two things for certain: this was the work I wanted to do, and this was a service my community truly needed. That moment became the spark that started TNA Mobile Notary, which has since grown into TNA Mobile Notary & Apostille Services — a trusted, full-service notarial agency serving Arkansas and beyond.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Kandice R. Winfield , founder and owner of TNA Mobile Notary & Apostille Services of Northwest Arkansas, established in 2018. What began as a one-woman mobile notary business has grown into a trusted, full-service agency offering in-office, mobile, apostille, and remote online notarization (RON) services for clients across Arkansas and beyond. I entered this industry after recognizing how many individuals and businesses needed reliable, accessible, and professional document assistance — not as an occasional favor, but as a true service built on trust, education, and consistency.
At TNA Mobile Notary, this is not a weekend or part-time “gig” — it’s our profession. We are available seven days a week, well-trained, and fully up to date on all Arkansas notary laws and best practices. What sets us apart is our unwavering dedication to the notary space and to the people we serve. Each of our notaries is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about educating clients while providing exceptional service.
We proudly operate from a beautiful brick-and-mortar office that offers convenient print, scan, copy, and shred services at affordable rates, creating a one-stop destination for all notarial and document needs. Beyond our day-to-day work, we are deeply rooted in our community, hosting quarterly events such as low-cost professional headshots, Photos with Santa, and niche industry training courses both in person and virtually. These events reflect our belief that business and community growth go hand in hand.
What I’m most proud of is that TNA has become a trusted, go-to name in Northwest Arkansas — dependable, detail-oriented, and always here when our community needs us most.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What has helped me build my reputation within my market is consistency, reliability, and a genuine commitment to service. From the very beginning, I made it a point that every client interaction — whether in person, online, or over the phone — reflects professionalism, care, and attention to detail. Over the years, that consistency has translated into trust. Clients know that when they contact TNA Mobile Notary & Apostille Services, they’ll get the same level of respect, education, and thoroughness every single time.
We also built our name by being available when others aren’t — offering appointments seven days a week, mobile services across multiple counties, and now remote online notarization for clients statewide. Our beautiful, full-service office adds another layer of credibility and convenience, allowing clients to print, scan, copy, or shred documents right on-site.
Beyond the technical side, I think our reputation has grown because we’ve remained community-centered. We host quarterly events like low-cost professional headshots, Photos with Santa, and industry training courses that give back to the community that supports us. People see that we’re not just a business — we’re a trusted presence in Northwest Arkansas. And that trust, earned through honesty, education, and service, is what has truly built our reputation.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I think this entire journey has been about resilience. When I relocated to Northwest Arkansas in the fall of 2018, I had no idea where this path would lead me. I originally enrolled in classes at the local community college to further my marketing career, and on a whim, I decided to post an ad for something I already knew how to do — notary work. I figured I’d see how many people might need mobile services since I didn’t yet have a home base. Little did I know, that small decision would become the foundation for the next decade of my life.
What began with just me, a notary stamp, and a vehicle quickly turned into a spare-room operation out of my three-bedroom home. When I realized that many clients needed notary services but couldn’t afford mobile fees, I set out to solve that problem by opening my first brick-and-mortar location. But because I was completely self-funded — with no grants, loans, or outside investors — I couldn’t afford both a business location and a place to live. So for two years, I lived on-site: the business in the front, my bedroom in the back. I didn’t take a paycheck during that time; every dollar went to keeping the lights on and the dream alive.
In the spring of 2024, I moved into our current location, determined to scale and stabilize the business. Today, in the fall of 2025, I have a small team of three independent contractors who help keep our doors open seven days a week. Our hours fluctuate with business flow, but our dedication never wavers. We continue to push forward — grounded in ethics, education, and a shared belief that what we’re building isn’t just a service, but a lasting part of this community’s heartbeat.
