We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kandace Walters. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kandace below.
Hi Kandace, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I absolutely love the pattern Gingham its a classic pattern worn by Jackie Kennedy who is a total fashion icon. I am also the Glam Squad I love doing hair and Makeup so the two names just work together.
Kandace, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi Everyone!! My Name is Kandace Walters I am an Entrepreneur, I co-own a hair salon with my mother in law and I started my online boutique ginghamandglam.com In april of 2020. Crazzy I know, but it was the perfect time to capitalize on e-commerce. We were in lock down and everyone was online shopping. I provide, Makeup services, Hair services, Styling services, anything you need when it comes to glam, I am your girl. I am the most proud of the way I balance my work, home life. Being a mom of three its always been super important that I maintain a good work balance.
The most important things my potential clients need to know about me and my brand is that its 100% authentic, I want to make you look and feel your best. I totally care about you not only as a client but as a person. I always say when you sit in my chair you will become a friend for life!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Yes I can share a time I had to pivot in life and career. Covid 2020 was a nightmare for many. I know for me it was hard because I wasn’t able to go into the salon and see my clients, not to mention it was a scary time for all of us. I was bored and all I was finding myself doing is shopping, then I had the brilliant idea to start an online boutique so that’s what I did.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I sell on my website ginghamandglam.com I love it because it allows me to work from home. BUT the cons would be that its hard to tell how something is going to run. Is it going to run big? does it run small? is it made well?
