Kamiyah , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?

I am very happy and grateful of being great at what I do which is a makeup artist and a nail technician. i also have a business called sip with style. I had a 9 to 5 for 7 years and decided to just step out of faith and see where it take me , and I can really say I’m glad I did it . In the beginning it was kinda hard trying to build up my clients, networking and selling my products But knew that it all would be good at the end . Just keep telling myself to keep going, push harder and pray. always remember to stay with a postive mindset a smile and a good attitude.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

im kamiyah matthews and i own three businesses , one is called sip with style and this is something fancy you can put over any beverages. i started this one back in 2018! i came up with this idea because when i go out and see people covering there drinks up with a napkin or there hands i said to myself what can i do to change this so thats when i came up with something fancy and started creating different styles. everything is hand made by me and doesn’t cost much to sip with style when you go out and drink. my second business is called blush on me which is my blush line cause im a makeup artist . so what made me fall in love with makeup , well first i love to paint , so back when i was younger i use to play and practice on my twin sister face. so at first i was scared to put myself out there cause i didnt know if it was going to take off, but after taken two class and coming up with my own ideas it workout great for me. i came up with the name blush on me cause i wanted for women to pay more attention to the cheeks because when you smile it makes the blush stand out more. my third business is called tips and dips press on nails . i started at the beginning of the year so im still working on my craft with this one. I came a long way from working a 9 to 5 for 7 years and just to take all my money i had to start my journey and i can say im thankful, blessed, and very proud of myself for doing it.

How did you build your audience on social media?

keep going never stop networking! post and go live on every platform you have , give out samples! my favorite saying is even if nobody supports you always support yourself and keep going .

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

i would have to say getting tips on top of payment. i can get creative with anything so when my clients ask for something and then sometimes i put my own spin on it, it makes then happy and wanna come back.
