Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kamille Caldwell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kamille, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is to create visual art that will work as a portal for the minds and hearts for each viewer. As an artist, I believe that what we create is a reflection of us. Behind every piece that I create lies a portion of my being. I always set an intention behind each piece that I create and I often decide whether I want to share a piece of my heart or a piece of my mind. I believe that without an intention there is no absolute meaning to the work… it kinda just leaves the meaning to be decided by the viewer, I don’t believe that there’s anything wrong with that but I do believe that leading with a purpose is far more effective. Many say that art is subjective and this maybe true, but I believe that an art piece that is created without an objective forms a barrier between the viewer and the piece. This makes it far more difficult for the two to connect. My main goal is to produce visual art that not only will be psychologically enthralling for my supporters but will encourage them to embrace their inner being, and to be able to find the missing piece that they’ve been searching for within my work.
Kamille, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a visual artist that has an intense desire to express my creativity through cinematography and photography. I’ve always known that I wanted to live my life authentically through creative expression but I didn’t know exactly what that would look like until my last two years of high school. I always believed that I didn’t view the world the same way as the average person because I’m able to find beauty in the things that most people overlook. For example, A tree sitting in the middle of a field with stratocumulus clouds during a sunset is the starting point of a storm of ideas for a short film because I resonate with those facets on a soulful level. This may not resonate with some but it gives a glimpse of how my brain works. For many years, I walked through life with this gift and after I graduated high school I knew that was the only thing I needed to take me far, along with the love and support from my family. I believe that the decision to live my life as an artist is the greatest decision that I’ve ever made for myself. I think that what sets my work apart from others is my meticulous nature. It’s imperative for me to tell the story the way I see it in my mind and feel it throughout my entire being. It doesn’t matter if I saw it in a dream or if I felt it from just watching a tree flow with the wind. I have to deliver the story in a way that matches the inclination that I have. I believe that the right angles, effective use of color, lighting, and music helps to tell a story. This is why I choose to edit my films and photos the way that I do. This is also why many request for Kamille Caldwell to help with the development of their films and others choose to book a shoot with Celestial Photography because I’m able to bring your most extraterrestrial thoughts to life.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is being able to live as an inspiration for others. It took me a while to get to a place where I felt confident in my work. Although, I do believe there is always room for growth, I’m still able to see how far I’ve come which is a blessing. I believe that creating art is a spiritual awakening within itself …it’s like you’re literally giving birth which is the most rewarding feeling of them all.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think that non-creatives will struggle to understand the vision that I have for what I’m working to establish for myself. Many people don’t know what it takes to create a film or a photo series that becomes recognized not only by the eyes but the mind and soul. I think that in order to understand my work, you have to have a certain level of inner standing of yourself, and a certain level of understanding of what lies beneath the surface of the world we live in today.
