We recently connected with Kamia Kindle and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kamia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
I don’t want to brag, but I honestly feel like my parents did everything right. Most importantly, they SHOWED UP! It didn’t matter if it were for choir, National Honor Society, Basketball, whatever I was participating in, I could look out into the audience and see my mom and dad. That meant a lot to me.
A lot of people know my parents a business owners, but it started when I was young. I was around the age 12, when my father would take me to business meetings and to scope properties and cool stuff like that. He didn’t know how to use a computer or anything, so at a young age, I would be up with him late at night, typing his business plans, reports and designing his graphs and logos. We had AOL dial up then, LOL. Memories. I believe it was then, that my father identified my love and knack for computers and design. Here I am all these years later with my Bachelors of Science in Computer Information Systems, owning a full fledge marketing firm for 20 years now.
So yes, when you ask me if my parents impacted my life and career – the answer is YES!

Kamia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I consider myself to be a “Mompreneur”! I am a wife, mother and mogul wrapped in one package. Family means the most to me and being a good human follows right behind it.
As mentioned before, I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs, so being the owner of a web and marketing firm comes SO NATURAL to me… it’s in my blood. I started Soda Pop Graphics in the early 2000’s. I remember at that time – fresh out of college, I was working for an email marketing company, AdKnowledge, (the one and only corporate job I have ever had), and it was after a few years with them, that I resigned and started SPG. I am a self taught graphic designer. I immediately knew that custom solutions in marketing and design is where I would thrive. Honestly, it’s what’s been one of the main reasons customers are drawn to us. We don’t believe in anything cookie cutter or mediocre at Soda Pop – everyone is different and meant to stand out in some capacity.
My days are typically spent working with and talking to so many entrepreneurs, discussing everything from their dream brand to their website development. We are the ONLY company in the US that utilizes the RICH-AC methodology, it’s our secret sauce.
I am most proud of the fact that we’ve never used a template in 20 years of business. I stand on that. We offer a full range of ALL CUSTOM services: logo design, graphic design, web design, web development, hosting, SEO, Social Media design and management, print design and printing, application development and more.
Most of our client base is comprised of budding entrepreneurs, but we also have had the pleasure of serving multi-million dollar clients as well. We are very well versed in what we do.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2014 we had grown substantially by way of one client in Texas. This client had increased our contract by 50%. That increase allowed me to hire more team members, relocate to a bigger office suite and upgrade the office to a more luxe feel. They’d been our client for 4 years. The work we produced for them (1000’s of Google email creatives suites and banner ads with content) grew their company faster than what they could imagine.
One day I received a phone call from the owner, he called me to let me know that they would be taking all of their work inhouse – this came just 2 months after the contract increased for us. Therefore all the money I’d just spent, people I just hired, etc. was all premature. I was young at that time, so I remember being on the phone with him, almost begging to keep the contract because I knew if we lost it, there would be trouble.
Long story short, we didn’t get to keep the contract. I learned that day, that my contracts would be secure and in favor of MY COMPANY! I will never get in a position again to where one can back out on a contract with us leaving us in the dirt. I also learned a valuable lesson, that we should never just have one egg in the basket. That is a very dangerous game to play.
I lost a lot that year. But remember, that was 2014. (Insert the cheesy grin here.) This in my opinion, is the epitome of resilience. We are STILL STANDING!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What has helped build our reputation within the market is our client base. Our clients have been spreading the word for our agency since day one. It’s oh so true, that when you do a GREAT job for your clients, they do all of the marketing of your products and services for you. I would also like to say this, we work hard every day to improve our relationships with our clients. We struggled with project status updates and communications forever, and even though we delivered a great project in the end, we needed to improve in that area big time.
So what we did was come up with our “Friendly Friday Customer Touch”. This is an email that goes out to every client on Fridays, giving them a status update on their project. It’s a hit!
