Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kameron Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Kameron thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Well I honestly can’t say what my “parents” have done for me because I was raised by a single mother. She raised all three of us (me and my older two siblings). But my mother did everything right. She made some mistakes here and there but she did everything right by us. It’s hard to see it from time to time but she taught me a lot of stuff. My mom states that I’m more like my father lol so I have a lot of his traits. But in all honesty, she taught me the simplest things that can be the most impactful (daily chores, being on time, saving money, mental strength, patience, and talking to God). My friends tell me that my mother did a fantastic job raising me. And even though we clash (my mother and I) I couldn’t have agreed more. Love you mom.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Kameron Williams, a teaching assistant at Georgia Southern University.
I have been producing music for twelve years using FL Studio. Other workstations include: Logic, Game Synth, Sound Particles, Maschine, Adobe Audition, UVI, and currently using Unreal Engine. But I’m mainly focusing on sound design.
Currently, I am the audio director for Ants Art, which is a Baltimore/D.C. clothing company that contains apparel relating to African and Asian culture. A freelance sound designer/audio content specialist for Tech Levitate, an innovative company that focuses on technology and gaming. And I’m the audio lead for two small teams called Category Zero Games and Timezones. But I have worked/conversed with a couple of companies such as: Monroe Institute, Breathwrk, Somadome, Tripp, Cascade Hypnosis. Neeuro, Silentmode, LUCID, Healium, Insight Project (Xbox Games Studios), and OVR.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Of course! Actually not even a story but some details about how I had to obtain some form of income. There were times when I had to catch three buses and a train to get to work. I would walk miles and miles to get to my next destination because I didn’t have any means of transportation. I even had to shovel buses and cars during an intense snow storm to pay for my college tuition. Finally, building stages for hours on end just so that I can move to Georgia to attend grad school. But I had to do what I had to do. And with that mindset is how I was able to become resilient.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Providing for myself and my lady but also, setting examples for my own community on how to stay strong, focus, fight against anything that the world has put on us as a culture, and reminding children who look like us to always strive for greatness.
