Alright, Kamaya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I came up with my business name by thinking of something I was passionate about and thinking of something that I love to be. The word “Klassie or Classy “symbolizes the aesthetic image my business shows with every candle. The word ” Kandle or Candle” is just describing exactly what my business sells. I also sell wax melts and other products. However, making candles is what I do! Each word starts with the letter “K” because as the owner and founder of Klassie Kandles LLC, I want my business to be different. My name is Kamaya which also starts with the letter “K”. I am the face of my brand and my image.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Kamaya Primm, I will be graduating from high school in 2025. As a highschool student and a business owner, I manage to juggle it all. I tend to say “God is keeping me going.” I have always had dreams and goals for myself, becoming a business owner was on the list! My support system has always pushed me to my furthest potential. My business, Klassie Kandles is a Handmade Soy Candle Company. My slogan is all products are made with love. My out of the box personality shows in each candle that I create. I like to put a twist on the ordinary look of a candle. The scents are amazing and are the special touch to each candles design. Lighting a Klassie Kandle is always an experience, leaving your room smelling Klassie.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source for my business is social media. I always do specials or pop ups shops during the holidays and during the beginning of each season. I make candles that reflect the season or holiday at that time. I have also made partnerships with local retail companies where I am able to sell my candles during their business hours. When I meet new customers I enjoy where I can see their reaction when they see and smell my candles. It brings me joy to make people smile.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience by posting pictures of my candles on my instagram pages, both personal and business. Being a high school teenager I always advertise my candles at school. My friends are my biggest supporters! During the holidays, I do pop up shops in retail stores and local events around Atlanta.
