We were lucky to catch up with Kamaya Chapman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kamaya , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the toughest things about entrepreneurship is that there is almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
My mother passed away in the peak of my entrepreneurial journey . She was my biggest cheerleader that surprisingly supported something that was near to her (wasn’t raised in a time of entrepreneurship)
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I became a full time entrepreneur in 2018 when I left the mental health industry and took a lash class to become a lash technician. After months I became a trainer and have had the opportunity to train over 100 women in lash extensions
My college degree is Public relations so I would always do freelance work . My northern passed away in 2019 when I was probably making the most money I’ve ever made. It sent me in such a dark place and eventually I stopped lashing and working in general. I lost clients and really wanted to give up on myself

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Believing in myself again and reminding myself that I am a conqueror after losing my mother and grandma . I kept the faith through it all
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that you have to work a 9 to 5 to be successful and you also have to cut out the non believers and focus on who supports you vs who doesn’t
