We were lucky to catch up with Kali Haug recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kali thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
I just like to bring the ingredient of fun into my work! I believe that intentionally putting goodness into what you are creating reverberates to the consumer. Everything is energy and food is no different. I like to listen to uplifting music or mantra during the cooking process. I hold a space of gratitude for the abundance of food we are able to have. I know all of this transfers into the meals I create. My clients have confirmed this many times over with feedback like, “I just feel the love in this food. I feel the difference in my body between this food and other food.”

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Food has been an obsession of mine since I was a little girl. Like… really little. I was the type of child who wanted to try every type of food. I wasn’t picky. I just wanted to experience the joy that beautiful flavors and textures bring. My dad recalls me waking up from sleep many times with stories of my dreams about food and cake. I wrote an adorable little cookbook called “chomp, chomp” for my senior project. Enrolled in culinary school the next year and I was off. I definitely know I’m on my path. It’s always been food!
I started Pure Vibrancy as a food blog because I was sharing so many yummy photos of my food and people demanded those recipes! As I progressed in my self-development and evolved in my skill set, it was clear to me that I wanted to take Pure Vibrancy to the next level. This manifested as meal prep and catering. Right now, I offer delicious vegan meal prep services and I do specialty catering with fun things like sweet herbal elixirs and bright, artsy charcuterie boards.
Hearing the feedback from all of my wonderful clients makes my heart so happy. I know I’m making it easier for people to eat well and feel good in their bodies. That’s what Pure Vibrancy is all about. I want people to know that they CAN feel even better than they’ve ever imagined. We can live in vibrancy. We just have to understand the power of real, whole foods made & ate with intention. I’ve heard time and time again that “I can feel the difference,” and “thank you for sharing your gifts and talents – I can’t wait for next week’s’ menu!” This, and the creative process of making the actual meals, is my joy. Everyday I can wake up with contentment in my heart for what I offer the community. I wish this for everyone. Follow your joy!
Does this sound like something you can vibe with? You can find recipes and information about my services on my Instagram @purevibrancy and my website www.purevibrancy.com

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Unlearning is a whole part of life that goes unsaid in most cases. As a whole, we don’t talk about how vital it is to know how to drop old beliefs and conditioning. Especially self-conditioning. As I grew up, I had very little self-confidence. I was bullied a bit in school and I’ve always been an emotionally sensitive soul. I definitely took on this identity of, “well, I can’t do that. it’s just not in me.” I created a persona of someone who had no idea of her potential. To my benefit and with many years of inner work, I learned of something very special within me… this thorned rose is called self-awareness. I took the reins and got real with myself. I decided to see my potential in her fullness. I decided to show up for this “future Kali” who I so madly admired. So yes, I had to unlearn my own conditioned beliefs that I couldn’t be “that girl” who is living in her fullest expression, living in her joy, living and creating with a heart on fire.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing clientele for me has been PHOTOS. People love to see what you are up to. They like to see your stories on instagram and know what the daily life looks like. Building any type of relationship is like this…with friends, partners and clientele. They want to know you! This goes hand in hand with creating trust and rapport.
