Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kaley Tocco. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kaley, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The idea of my business came up to me I suppose. I began teacher training in 2017 while working a full time job as a lab technician. In 2012, I graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and I was working as a Chemist at a soap factory – not really enjoying it much but knew I needed to have some sort of job to support myself. I knew deep down that corporate life wasn’t what I wanted to do forever but I wasn’t quite sure what would “fill my cup” and provide a livable wage. I had began my yoga practice a few years earlier and the studio I was practicing at had announce yoga teacher training. My family was going through a tough time and I felt as though my entire world was crumbling – they always say that yoga saves lives so I figured taking the teacher training might help save mine. Looking back, I guess you can say it did.
I completed my 200 hour requirements and obtained my certificate of completion in May of 2017 but I hadn’t learned enough at that point. I travelled to Kentucky not long after that and learned about Yoga for 12-step Recovery and by 2018 I had gotten certified as a Reiki Master, a Thai Massage & Access Bars practitioner, and an Aromatherapist. When the doors opened to this holistic world I jumped right through the doorway.
I continued to work in the corporate world while teaching yoga and doing energy work on the side, I still couldn’t quite figure out how to create a lifestyle where I did what I really loved full time. I was rather exhausted, working 40 hours and teaching every evening takes it toll at some point. In August of 2022 I unexpectedly lost my job and felt that again, my world was falling apart. I had the tools and 5 years of experience at this point to try and put my yoga business into action for real this time though. It was slow and bit of a struggle at first but I began teaching a little more and obtained a few more clients with my energy work. I also got a part time gig as a personal administrative assistant to help general contractors with their bookkeeping and such.
In 2023 I began teaching at a studio I had been dreaming of teaching at for years and also landed a corporate class teaching twice a week. I started a business with a close friend and we created a unique 200 hour teacher training program focused on the softer side of yoga – set to start this September!
As I look back on that day in August of 2022, scared and unsure how I was going to move forward, I’m so glad it happened the way it did. Teaching yoga and offering energy work isn’t your standard form of income kind of job but it’s a lot of work and I don’t think I would have had as much faith in myself to begin a business if I wasn’t somewhat pushed to do so.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I currently offer yoga, sound healing, Reiki, Access Bars, Thai Massage, and aromatherapy. I also make handmade crafts that I sell on occasion when I have the time to create. My main focus is to help anyone I come into contact with, through which ever avenue, gain empowerment to live the life they’ve always dreamed of living. In my private energy work sessions I assist them in working through the energy that may be keeping them back from breaking through the barriers. I guide clients to release energy and gain empowerment. Through Thai Massage and yoga we release the energy on more of a physical level. Thai Massage is commonly referred to as “lazy man’s yoga” and it involved me shaping and stretching your body into yoga poses while working through the sen lines (meridians) to push energy through the organs and out the top of the head. Access Bars is more of a Reiki session on steroid, it involved 32 points on the head that, when activated, can removed thought patterning blockages and create new pathways of thinking. With sound healing, I really enjoy private sessions because we can get really deep when clients are already comfortable in their homes. It’s also a fun experience to share with friends!
Of everything I offer, the time with me is just the beginning – the real magic happens when clients begin to integrate their sessions into their lives. I think the most difficult part about this type of business is that I am only a guide and some people may think I’m the source of healing – really it’s themselves I just provide the open door to what could be.
I’m most proud of the care + time I put into each client that’s lead to me. I listen and try to understand what they are really looking to achieve. It’s not just another day on the job for me, every session is a chance for someone to really change their life – find happiness and live a life full of joy.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Last year I began a business – The School of Sacred Softness – with a friend I met at a yoga retreat I hosted. She attended the retreat in February of 2022 and we kept in touch afterwards. Retreats are a wonderful container for deep healing so I tend to keep close contact with anyone who attends. After every retreat I typically offer my availability for a lifetime as the integration process can be an unmeasurable amount of time. Something you dug up during the weekend of a retreat may not be fully healed or integrated for months after the retreat and it’s important to have support in the processing stage.
We kept in touch and in September of 2023, Lauren and I decided to take a trip to my favorite crystal shop near Dayton OH. On the way down there we stopped for brunch and began discussing our dreams of offering continued education in our specialties – Lauren in yin yoga and myself in restorative yoga. Then it came.. the idea of taking our continued education dreams and creating an entire 200 hour yoga teacher training program focusing on the softer side of yoga – yin, restorative, meditation, breath work, and sound healing. As we drove home we created the entire curriculum, right there in the car as if it were some sort of universal download. As soon as we returned, we got to work and began bringing it into reality by creating a website, training manual, and really getting all the details in order. It’s been a dream to work with her. I’ve collaborated with a lot of people in my career and it’s always challenging to find a partner willing to put in an even amount of work. We work together so well and I’m beyond excited to see where our friendship and business partnership takes us!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
It’s difficult to grow a clientele when the experience is so personal for every offering I have. Sound healing is a challenging experience to explain and energy work isn’t much easier. Most of my clientele is word of mouth, friends of friends who share their experience and book a session. I’ve always found it quite challenging to advertise my offerings. A lot of my clientele is picked up through the yoga studio, Studio 108, where they can book sessions right on that website as well as mine. Sound Healing group sessions are more personally booked and involve a phone call to determine what they are looking to book. My hopes are to just continue to get my name out there and meet more people who match more of my frequency and want to work with my on a one-on-one basis.
