We were lucky to catch up with Kaleigh Howell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaleigh, thanks for joining us today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
First and foremost, my hero is Jesus. His example of unconditional love, grace, and servant leadership has shaped how I live, how I treat others, and how I run my business. When I’m feeling overwhelmed or uncertain, I lean on my faith. It reminds me to lead with compassion, to serve with purpose, and to trust the process—even when I can’t see the full picture. Jesus has taught me that the smallest acts done with love can leave the biggest impact.
My second hero is my husband. He’s my biggest supporter and the steady voice of encouragement when I doubt myself. From late nights helping me prep for markets to reminding me of my “why” when things feel heavy, he’s been there through it all. He’s selfless, hardworking, and grounded—and watching the way he leads our family inspires me to keep showing up with heart in everything I do.
Together, my faith and my family have influenced the way I dream, create, and grow Howell Home and Candle. They remind me that what I’m building isn’t just about candles—it’s about creating light, warmth, and connection.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My journey into candle-making started during a season where I was craving a sense of calm and purpose. As a new mom juggling a full-time job and the whirlwind of life, I found comfort in creating something with my hands. Candle-making became more than a craft—it was a form of therapy, an act of self-care, and eventually, a way to serve others. Every candle is hand-poured with love, using high-quality ingredients that are safe for families (because mine is always my first product tester!).
At Howell Home and Candle, we offer thoughtfully crafted soy candles, wax melts, and seasonal collections that are all about setting a mood and making moments feel special. Whether it’s a clean, calming scent to start your day or a cozy fragrance to wind down in the evening, our products are made to support the small rituals that bring peace and joy into people’s lives.
What sets us apart is the heart behind every jar. This isn’t a mass-produced operation—it’s a family-run brand built on faith, intentional living, and connection. I want people to know that when they shop with us, they’re supporting more than just a product—they’re supporting a dream, a family, and a mission to create beauty and warmth in the everyday.
I’m most proud of the way this little idea has grown into a community. Seeing our candles in your homes, hearing your stories about how a scent brought back a memory or brightened a hard day—that’s what keeps me going. And I always want people to know: you don’t have to have it all figured out to start something meaningful. You just have to start.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Believe it or not, I met my husband—who’s also my biggest supporter and business partner—in 2020 through a dating app! I still remember telling my best friends and my mom after our very first date, “I’m going to marry him.” And I was right.
From day one, he’s believed in me and this dream. While I may be the face behind Howell Home and Candle, he’s the one behind the scenes—lifting heavy boxes, encouraging me through long nights, and reminding me of my worth on the hard days. We’ve built so much together, and I couldn’t imagine doing this without him in my corner.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my audience on social media has been a slow and steady journey rooted in authenticity. I didn’t go viral overnight—instead, I focused on showing up as myself and sharing what I genuinely love. I talked about my candles, of course, but I also shared glimpses of my life: being a mom, building something from scratch, the mess and the magic of it all. People connect with real, not perfect.
My biggest piece of advice for anyone just starting out is this: show up consistently, speak from the heart, and don’t be afraid to take up space. You don’t have to have all the fancy equipment or a perfectly curated feed. Start with what you have. Share your story. Engage with your community. Social media is less about numbers and more about connection—focus on building that, and the rest will follow.
Also, don’t be discouraged by slow growth. I’ve had seasons where things felt quiet online, but that doesn’t mean your work isn’t meaningful. Keep going.
