We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kaleigh Glover. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kaleigh below.
Alright, Kaleigh thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope to be remembered for beautifying the walls of countless homes and businesses with art and design while inspiring others to put their dreams into action! Make those things, share them with the world, create the life that you want, make your visions come to life!

Kaleigh , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kaleigh Glover and I am an artist living and loving life on the Texas Coast! I’ve always loved to be inspired and be creative. I took an Advertising Design class in high school and that class really opened my eyes to the art and design industry and all the possible routes that I could take with a creative skillset. I went on to get my Associates degree in Business and a Bachelors in Fine Art from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi, all the while exploring my creative side by painting for myself and for others. In 2018 I started a business called The Art Project in which I provide my mural, sign, and design services, advertise mine and other artists’ artwork that my team and I install into local businesses in Corpus Christi, Texas, and advertise my painting classes!
Creating artwork and designs for others has been a fulfilling creative outlet for me throughout my art career. I love working with the local business people to help their vision for their space come to life! It’s a special task and I always feel honored that people want to work with me and have my art on their walls. You can find my interior murals in restaurants such as Nueces Brewing Co. and Executive Surf Club, in short term rental beach houses and private homes, and other shops, offices, and businesses, like the Port Aransas Visitor’s Center. Some examples of my public exterior murals include souvenir shops in Port Aransas and South Padre Island, on the iconic Farley Boats in Port Aransas, and The Corpus Christi Trade Center, which was the second mural that I painted alongside my late friend and Texas artist, John Olvey. For me, living by the beach and in a warm subtropical climate is such a great source of inspiration and environment for painting murals! One of the best parts is working with the easy-going beach lovers that live and work here, too!
In the studio, painting things found in nature like fish, plants, and coastal birds on canvas is my jam. Exploring places and spending time outside seeing all the gifts of God on the earth is what really inspires me. The colors, the lifeforce inside an animal, all the different types of living beings, the movement, the sun, the moon, the different climates and terrain- wow. I love it all! While referencing realism, I like to use a vibrant color palette to add some energy to the composition. I also like to work in serieses, as I tend to switch up styles or application techniques to try something new, or to just work on something more repetitive and meditative rather than something that takes a little more focus. One is an on-going series called “Coastal Bend Snapshots” on smaller canvases. They have an abstract watery background and images of spaces I photographed around what is called the Texas Coastal Bend, where I’ve lived as a young child and for most of my adult years. Another experimental collection is more sculptural on the canvas, in which I use super heavy gesso to create textures and then play with color. This past year I’ve started a super fun and quirky series on wood called “Birds on Blocks”, which features birds like roseate spoonbills, brown pelicans, and great blue herons driving different classic cars. Painting these has been a great way to just be imaginative and to crack a laugh. You can find my artwork in several galleries and shops in coastal towns in Texas!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I’m going to have to say that my whole artistic career path I’ve had to stay resilient. Working for yourself in any field takes lots of courage, motivation, discipline, confidence, faith, and perseverance. Working as an artist comes with its own set of challenges and triumphs, and for me, taking care of myself physically and mentally is key to staying balanced and ready for all that working for yourself brings! For me, all that is worth it. I’ll choose this life any day!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think getting involved in the art community really helped put the word out that I exist. Sharing my artwork by posting actively on social media accounts, setting up booths at events and markets, joining the art centers and participating in their shows, selling artwork on consignment in shops and galleries, having friends within the field share clients, having friends and family share or recommend my artwork and services with their friends. Persistently showing up.
