We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kaleb Brown a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kaleb, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My story behind my podcast is to raise awareness for people who stutter while talking about challenges young adults face living a christ center life.
Kaleb, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the podcast industry my freshman year of college once I decided to stop playing basketball in college. One of the things that set me apart from other podcasters is my stutter, and how open i about my faith. I am still learning about the podcast industry and have been listening and learning over the years. As a person who stutters i bring a unique value to the industry and want to rasie awarenesses for people who stutter and for people with a speech impediment.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In the podcast industry, it’s easy to compare yourself with other podcasts out there. As a person who stutters, I don’t do for the likes or views. I do for the people who don’t have a voice and want to make an impact on people who have a speech impediment. it’s very difficult having a speech impediment, you deal with being embarrassed by people, loneliness, feeling like you are not enough, and self-doubt. This can cause people to give up speaking and bring down their self-confidence. My relationship with God has helped me a much with who I am, it doesn’t matter what others think, or say about me, it’s who I am in Christ that matters to me the most.
How did you build your audience on social media?
How I built my audience on social media was just being myself and not trying to be something I’m not. I have a laid-back personality and I never change when I’m doing an episode. My advice for those trying to build a social media presence is to take your time and be patient it’s not going to happen overnight. I Still have much to improve on and learn in the podcast industry. Another tip I would give would be asking for advice from an experienced professional in your field, I have had people come alongside me, giving me words of encouragement, giving me constructive criticism, and showing me the ropes of starting a podcast.
